1. Position Summary
The Actuator Testing Engineer is responsible for executing functional, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic testing of valve actuators as per approved procedures, international standards, and project specifications. The role ensures that all actuators (electric/pneumatic/hydraulic) meet performance, safety, and reliability requirements before dispatch.
2. Key ResponsibilitiesTesting & Validation
- Perform functional testing of Electric, Pneumatic, and Hydraulic actuators (ON/OFF, modulating type).
- Conduct stroke checks, torque testing, speed verification, limit switch setting, travel calibration, and safety testing.
- Validate actuator operations with control panels, PLC/SCADA, 4-20mA signal testing, and feedback signal verification.
- Execute tests as per FAT/SAT procedures, product datasheets, and project requirements.
- Ensure proper IP67/IP68 sealing tests, insulation resistance tests, and continuity tests.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and maintain Test Reports, FAT protocols, calibration sheets, and inspection documents.
- Document all test parameters, deviations, corrective actions, and approvals.
- Coordinate with QA/QC for test witness and inspection clearance.
Assembly & Troubleshooting
- Assist assembly team in actuator installation on valves (butterfly, ball, gate, globe, plug, etc.).
- Perform troubleshooting for electrical circuits, mechanical components, gearboxes, limit switches, and control modules.
- Support integration with positioners, controls modules, ESD systems, etc.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure testing is carried out as per IEC, ISO, EN, NAMUR, ATEX, and customer-specific standards.
- Maintain safety protocols during electrical and pneumatic/hydraulic testing.
- Support internal and external audits (client, third-party, consultants).
Interdepartmental Coordination
- Coordinate inspection activities with:
- QC/QA
- Production
- Planning
- Customer/Third-party inspectors
- Support Engineering team for technical clarifications and design improvements.
3. Required Skills & CompetenciesTechnical Skills
- Strong understanding of Electric Actuators (Rotork, AUMA, BIFFI,LIMITORQUE, etc.)
- Knowledge of Pneumatic actuator principles (rack & pinion, scotch yoke).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams, GA drawings, P&IDs, and data sheets.
- Expertise in:
- 4–20 mA signal testing
- Feedback/position signal calibration
