Job Purpose
The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading the end-to-end engineering, detailed design review, and on-site execution of High Voltage (HV) and Medium Voltage (MV) substation projects. This role requires a unique blend of deep technical design expertise and robust project management skills to deliver complex grid-connectivity projects safely, within budget, and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities1. Design & Engineering Management
- Oversee and review detailed engineering deliverables for AIS (Air Insulated Substations) and GIS (Gas Insulated Substations) up to [e.g., 132kV / 220kV / 400kV].
- Approve key design calculations including short-circuit forces, bus-bar sizing, earthing/grounding grids, lightning protection, and CT/VT sizing.
- Review and validate Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), electrical layout drawings (plans & sections), control and protection schematics, and cable routing schedules.
- Ensure compliance with local utility regulations, CEA guidelines, and international standards (IEC, IEEE, IS).
2. Project Execution & Site Management
- Lead the on-site execution team from breaking ground to final testing, commissioning, and handover.
- Manage civil-electrical interfaces, ensuring foundations, structures, and cable trenches align perfectly with equipment delivery.
- Oversee the installation and testing of critical equipment: Power Transformers, Circuit Breakers, GIS modules, Disconnectors, and Control/Relay Panels (CRP).
- Enforce stringent Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) protocols and implement absolute zero-harm HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) policies on-site.
3. Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients, state/central utilities, and regulatory bodies to secure approvals and synchronization clearances.
- Evaluate vendor technical bids, participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and handle technical alignments with key equipment suppliers.
- Coordinate seamlessly with internal cross-functional teams (Procurement, Civil Engineering, Contracts, and Finance).
Key Requirements & Skills
- Technical Expertise: Proven track record in executing HV/MV substations, bay extensions, and grid integration projects. High proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., ETAP, CYME, CDEGS) is highly desirable.
- Execution Prowess: Strong grip over project scheduling tools (MS Project or Primavera P6), billing verification, resource forecasting, and contract management.
- Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading a team of multi-disciplinary engineers and site contractors.
- Communication: Exceptional negotiation, presentation, and written communication skills to handle high-level client interactions.
