Radiographer / X-Ray Technician
Job Summary
A Radiographer performs diagnostic imaging examinations such as X-rays and assists with other imaging procedures while maintaining high standards of patient care, radiation safety, and equipment operation. The role requires adherence to hospital policies, ethical practices, and applicable regulations in Karnataka.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic imaging procedures including X-ray examinations as prescribed by registered medical practitioners.
- Prepare patients for imaging procedures by explaining the process and positioning them correctly.
- Operate and maintain radiographic equipment safely and efficiently.
- Ensure radiation protection measures are followed for patients, staff, and visitors.
- Verify patient identity and imaging requests before examinations.
- Produce high-quality diagnostic images while minimizing radiation exposure.
- Assist radiologists and physicians during special imaging procedures when required.
- Maintain accurate patient records, imaging reports, and documentation.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and transfer of digital images through PACS/RIS systems.
- Monitor equipment performance and report faults for timely maintenance.
- Maintain cleanliness and infection control practices in the imaging department.
- Follow hospital protocols, quality assurance programs, and statutory guidelines.
- Participate in emergency and trauma imaging services as required.
- Provide compassionate and professional patient care while maintaining confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Radiography/Medical Imaging Technology (B.Sc. MIT/B.Sc. Radiography) or
- Diploma in Medical Imaging Technology (DMIT) or Diploma in Radiography from a recognized institution.
- Registration with the appropriate regulatory authority, if applicable under current Karnataka regulations.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is desirable.
Experience
- Fresher: Eligible for entry-level positions.
- Experienced: 1–5 years of experience in a hospital or diagnostic imaging center is preferred.
Skills Required
- Knowledge of radiographic techniques and imaging protocols.
- Familiarity with digital radiography, PACS, and RIS.
- Understanding of radiation safety and infection control.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and emergencies.
- Teamwork and professional ethics.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
