Position: Production Head
Industry: Shipbuilding ( Ship Repair & Maintenance, New Ship Construction, Ship Refitting )
Locations: Kochi | Goa | Chennai
Role Summary
Lead and manage end-to-end production activities across ship refitting, ship rebuilding, new ship construction, ship repair, and maintenance projects. Ensure timely project execution, optimum resource utilization, quality compliance, safety standards, and customer satisfaction while meeting production targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor all production activities across shipyard operations.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams including Hull, Mechanical, Electrical, Piping, Fabrication, Painting, and Outfitting.
- Develop production schedules and ensure projects are completed within budget and timelines.
- Coordinate with Project Management, Design, Procurement, QA/QC, and HSE departments.
- Optimize manpower, machinery, dry dock, berth, and workshop utilization.
- Ensure compliance with Classification Society, Client, Naval, and Statutory requirements.
- Monitor productivity, quality, and cost performance through KPIs.
- Drive continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and process optimization initiatives.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety, environmental, and quality management systems.
- Resolve production bottlenecks and provide technical guidance to production teams.
- Review daily progress reports and conduct production review meetings.
- Support business growth by improving operational efficiency and on-time project delivery.
Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Master's Degree/MBA in Operations (preferred).
Experience
- 10–20 years of experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, ship refitting, or shipyard operations.
- Minimum 3 years in a senior production leadership role.
- Experience handling multiple shipyard locations or large marine projects is preferred.
