The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and reliability of all bakery production equipment, utilities, and facility infrastructure. The role focuses on minimizing downtime, implementing preventive maintenance programs, ensuring food safety compliance, and supporting uninterrupted bakery production operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesEquipment Maintenance
- Maintain and troubleshoot bakery production equipment, including mixers, dough sheeters, dividers, proofers, ovens, cooling systems, slicers, packaging machines, and conveyors.
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
- Ensure maximum equipment uptime and production efficiency.
- Conduct root cause analysis of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
Preventive Maintenance Planning
- Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules for all bakery machinery and utilities.
- Maintain maintenance records, equipment history, and service reports.
- Coordinate maintenance shutdowns and planned repairs with production teams.
- Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements.
Utilities Management
- Oversee maintenance of electrical systems, DG sets, air compressors, refrigeration units, HVAC systems, water supply systems, and other utilities.
- Ensure uninterrupted utility support for bakery operations.
- Monitor energy consumption and implement energy-saving initiatives.
Food Safety & Compliance
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with food safety standards, GMP, HACCP, and company quality requirements.
- Maintain equipment in hygienic and food-safe conditions.
- Support internal and external audits related to engineering and maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and safety regulations.
Spare Parts & Inventory Management
- Maintain optimum inventory levels of critical spare parts and consumables.
- Prepare purchase requisitions for maintenance materials and spare parts.
- Coordinate with suppliers and service providers for procurement and repairs.
- Monitor spare parts consumption and control maintenance costs.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and productivity.
- Participate in process improvement and automation projects.
- Recommend equipment upgrades and modifications to enhance efficiency.
- Reduce breakdown frequency and maintenance costs through effective planning.
Team Coordination
- Supervise maintenance technicians and contractors during maintenance activities.
- Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to maintenance staff.
- Coordinate closely with production, quality, and warehouse teams.
Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain maintenance logs, work orders, calibration records, and service reports.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance reports.
- Track maintenance KPIs and present performance updates to management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
- 3–8 years of maintenance experience in bakery, food processing, FMCG, or manufacturing industries.
- Knowledge of bakery equipment, food processing machinery, and utility systems.
- Familiarity with GMP, HACCP, food safety standards, and preventive maintenance systems.

Working Conditions
- Work in a bakery manufacturing environment with rotating equipment, ovens, refrigeration systems, and packaging lines.
- May be required to work shifts, weekends, or emergency breakdown calls.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
