Job Summary
The O&M Manager will be responsible for leading the daily operations, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of all decentralized and centralized water/wastewater treatment plants under our purview. You will lead a team of site engineers and operators, optimize chemical and energy consumption, manage client relations, and ensure 100% compliance with Pollution Control Board standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership: Oversee the daily operations and maintenance of multiple water and wastewater treatment sites (STPs, ETPs, MBBR systems, and constructed wetlands).
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all plants consistently meet or exceed discharge standards. Assist management with technical documentation required for regulatory compliance, including Consent for Operation (CFO) protocols.
- Process Optimization: Monitor and analyze plant performance metrics. Implement strategies to optimize chemical dosing, power consumption, and overall biological/mechanical efficiency.
- Team Management: Supervise, train, and mentor site engineers, supervisors, and operators. Manage shift rosters and enforce strict workplace safety (HSE) standards.
- Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance: Develop and execute comprehensive annual maintenance schedules (PPM) for pumps, blowers, electrical panels, and automation systems to minimize downtime.
- Client & Vendor Relations: Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients. Address operational grievances promptly and maintain high client satisfaction.
- Reporting: Prepare and submit weekly/monthly operational logs, inventory trackers, and performance reports to the Head of Projects and executive leadership.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: B.Tech / B.E. in Chemical, Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering. A Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering is a plus.
- Experience: 5 to 8+ years of core experience in the O&M of water and wastewater treatment plants. Prior experience handling biological treatment technologies (like MBBR) and decentralized green infrastructure (like constructed wetlands) is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of biological wastewater treatment processes, hydraulics, electrical control panels, and PLC/SCADA automation systems.
- Leadership: Proven track record of managing scattered site teams and handling client facing technical discussions.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Hindi/local language.
