Job Summary
The Plant Head is responsible for the overall management and performance of the carton manufacturing plant. This includes overseeing production, quality, maintenance, planning, inventory, safety, cost control, and workforce management to ensure efficient operations, timely deliveries, and customer satisfaction.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduction Management
- Plan, organize, and monitor daily production activities to achieve production targets.
- Ensure optimum utilization of machines, manpower, and raw materials.
- Improve productivity, reduce downtime, and increase operational efficiency.
- Monitor production schedules and ensure on-time order fulfillment.
Quality Management
- Ensure all products meet customer specifications and quality standards.
- Implement quality control procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Reduce customer complaints, rejection rates, and process defects.
Plant Operations
- Manage end-to-end manufacturing operations including corrugation, printing, die-cutting, pasting, stitching, and dispatch.
- Coordinate with Production Planning, Procurement, Maintenance, Stores, and Dispatch teams.
- Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Maintenance
- Ensure preventive and breakdown maintenance of all plant machinery.
- Minimize machine downtime through effective maintenance planning.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams for equipment upgrades and improvements.
Inventory & Cost Control
- Monitor consumption of kraft paper, adhesives, inks, and other raw materials.
- Control production costs, wastage, and scrap.
- Ensure optimum inventory levels for raw materials and finished goods.
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, environmental, labor, and factory regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and training programs.
Team Management
- Lead, motivate, and develop production, maintenance, quality, and warehouse teams.
- Conduct performance evaluations and identify training needs.
- Promote teamwork, discipline, and a culture of continuous improvement.
Continuous Improvement
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and other productivity improvement initiatives.
- Analyze production data and prepare action plans for process improvements.
- Drive automation and operational excellence projects where applicable.
Reporting
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly MIS reports.
- Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production efficiency, OEE, quality, rejection, downtime, and delivery performance.
- Present plant performance reports to senior management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- MBA in Operations (preferred).
Experience
- 10–15 years of experience in carton, corrugated box, or packaging manufacturing.
- At least 5 years in a leadership role managing plant operations.

Working Conditions
- Full-time, plant-based role.
- May require extended working hours during peak production periods.
- Responsible for managing cross-functional teams and coordinating with customers, suppliers, and senior management.
Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per year
