Job Summary:
An OT Technician in Orthopaedics supports surgical teams during procedures related to bones, joints, and trauma. They ensure the operation theatre is fully prepared, maintain sterility, and assist the surgical team in procedures such as fracture fixation, joint replacement, and arthroscopy under the field of Orthopedic surgery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and sterilize orthopedic instruments, implants, and surgical sets
- Set up OT for procedures like fracture fixation, spine surgery, and joint replacement (TKR/THR)
- Assist surgeons during procedures (e.g., plating, nailing, K-wire fixation)
- Handle orthopedic equipment such as drills, saws, C-arm, and power tools
- Ensure proper positioning of patients for orthopedic surgeries
- Maintain aseptic techniques and infection control protocols
- Count and manage surgical instruments, sponges, and implants
- Assist in handling implants like plates, screws, rods, and prostheses
- Manage biomedical waste according to hospital guidelines
- Maintain OT records, inventory, and equipment logs
Qualifications:
- Diploma / Degree in Operation Theatre Technology (OTT)
- Minimum 2+ years of OT experience, preferably in orthopaedics.
Skills Required:
- Knowledge of orthopedic instruments and implant systems
- Familiarity with fracture fixation techniques
- Understanding of sterilization and infection control
- Ability to work in high-pressure surgical environments
- Teamwork and communication skills
