A Robotic Welding Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring automated welding machines to produce metal components. They load and unload parts, run pre-programmed weld cycles, and inspect finished products to ensure they meet manufacturing standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Operation: Load and unload raw materials and fixtures, initiate programmed welding sequences, and oversee operations to maintain high productivity.
- Quality Control: Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of finished welds using precision measuring tools like calipers and gauges to ensure they meet blueprint specifications.
- System Adjustments: Make minor adjustments to robotic parameters (speed, wire feed, voltage) and assist with tool or fixture changeovers.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine preventative maintenance on the robotic arms and welding equipment, and troubleshoot minor mechanical or programming faults.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to strict OSHA/safety guidelines, which include wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and keeping the work zone free of hazards.
Key Qualifications & Skills
- Technical Knowledge: A solid foundational understanding of manual welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG), along with the ability to read and interpret technical blueprints.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Basic troubleshooting and mechanical skills to adjust fixtures, mount tools, and resolve minor equipment hiccups.
- Computer Skills: Comfort with computer-controlled interfaces and teach pendants to select parameters or run programs.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, and lift heavy metal parts throughout the shift.
- Education: Typically requires a High School Diploma or equivalent. Certifications in robotics, automation, or welding are a distinct advantage
