ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Campaign Field Reporter you will receive assignments or evaluate news leads and news tips to develop story ideas, then gather and verify factual information through interview, observation and research. Verification is the craft: material is organized, emphasized and written according to prescribed editorial style and format standards.
The mandate is ground zero — reporting on every significant local political development in your assigned territory, fast enough that the war room acts on your dispatch the same day. Speed without verification is a liability; verification without speed is a diary.
You will build and protect the source network that makes the coverage possible, coordinate with the political analysis cell so field signal feeds the practice’s forecasting record, and carry the integrity the byline requires. Political material is handled with absolute discretion.
