Job Title: Instrumentation Engineer - Polymer & Textile Plant
Key Responsibilities:
- System Design and Optimization: Design, develop, and optimize instrumentation systems for controlling and monitoring polymer and textile manufacturing processes instrument.
- Installation and Commissioning: Oversee the installation, calibration, and commissioning of instrumentation systems such as flow meters, temperature sensors, pressure transmitters, and level controllers in the plant's machinery and equipment.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Conduct regular maintenance and troubleshooting of instrumentation equipment to minimize downtime, ensure high-quality production, and resolve issues such as inaccurate readings or malfunctioning sensors.
- Control Systems Management: Manage control systems (such as PLCs, SCADA, and DCS) for real-time monitoring of critical parameters, and optimize production processes based on the data collected from instruments.
- Calibration and Validation: Calibrate and validate the measurement and control instruments used in polymer and textile manufacturing to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Process Data Analysis: Monitor and analyse process data from the instruments, identifying performance trends and making recommendations for process improvements, energy savings, and product quality optimization.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all instrumentation systems meet safety standards, environmental regulations, and industry best practices, particularly in areas related to chemical handling, heat management, and wastewater treatment.
- Collaboration: Work closely with process engineers, plant operators, and maintenance teams to ensure proper integration of instrumentation systems into the production lines.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation of equipment installation, calibration procedures, troubleshooting actions, and process data. Report on system performance and any corrective actions taken.
- Project Management: Assist with or lead instrumentation-related projects, including the upgrade of control systems, the introduction of new equipment, and the automation of processes.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation Engineering, EC Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in instrumentation or control systems engineering within a manufacturing environment, preferably in polymer or textile plants.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of instrumentation systems used in manufacturing, such as temperature sensors, flow meters, pressure transmitters, and actuators.
- Experience with control systems (PLC, DCS, SCADA) and automation of polymer or textile processes.
- Knowledge of process control systems in extrusion, spinning, weaving, dyeing, coating, or similar textile-related processes.
- Familiarity with industry-specific software tools (e.g., SCADA, HMI systems) for process control and monitoring.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to analyse process problems, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions in real time.
- Communication: Strong communication skills to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineers, plant operators, and maintenance staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with the specific requirements of polymer and textile manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of energy efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainability practices in polymer and textile production.
- Experience with automation and control system upgrades, data acquisition, and predictive maintenance in manufacturing settings.
- Knowledge of safety regulations for chemical handling, textile production processes, and equipment maintenance in a plant environment.
Work Environment:
- The role typically operates within a production facility or plant, with some office-based work for planning and design.
- Depending on the job, the engineer may need to spend time in the field to monitor instrumentation installations, carry out repairs, or conduct tests.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to work in various environments, including on the production floor, near heavy machinery or in high-temperature areas.
- Some physical tasks such as lifting equipment, installing sensors, or troubleshooting machinery may be required.
