ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for a seasoned Manager – Technical SEO to lead our organic search strategy at a pivotal moment for the discipline. Search is rapidly evolving beyond traditional Google rankings into AI Overviews, LLM-powered answer engines, and conversational search assistants. The ideal candidate combines deep, hands-on technical SEO expertise with a strong command of how large language models retrieve, interpret, and cite content — and can translate that understanding into a concrete strategy that keeps our brand visible across both traditional and AI-driven search surfaces.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own the end-to-end technical SEO strategy — crawlability, indexation, site architecture, Core Web Vitals, structured data, and log file analysis.
- Lead the organization's Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) / AI Search Optimization (AISO) strategy to improve visibility and citation frequency in AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and other LLM-powered answer engines.
- Audit and optimize content structure for LLM comprehension — semantic clarity, entity clarity, structured data (Schema.org), and content chunking for retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems.
- Monitor and interpret how content is being crawled, indexed, and cited by AI crawlers (GPTBot, Google-Extended, PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot, CCBot, and similar) and manage robots.txt / crawler access strategy accordingly.
- Track brand visibility and share-of-voice within AI-generated answers (AI Overviews, ChatGPT Search, Perplexity, Copilot) using emerging LLM-visibility tracking tools, alongside traditional SEO tracking (rankings, organic traffic, CTR).
- Build and maintain topical authority and entity-based content strategies aligned with how knowledge graphs and LLMs understand brands and topics.
- Partner with content, engineering, and product teams to implement technical fixes — site speed, mobile-first indexing, JavaScript rendering issues, canonicalization, and international SEO (hreflang).
- Run and interpret technical SEO audits using tools such as Screaming Frog, Sitebulb, Google Search Console, and log file analyzers; prioritize fixes by projected impact.
- Stay ahead of algorithm updates (Google core updates, AI Overview rollouts) and emerging LLM/search terminology, translating developments into actionable strategy for stakeholders.
- Present SEO and AI-search performance, insights, and roadmap to senior leadership on a regular cadence.
- Mentor and upskill junior SEO team members on both traditional technical SEO and emerging AI-search practices.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications (Google Analytics/Search Console, technical SEO, or AI/ML fundamentals) are a strong plus.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 8 years of hands-on technical SEO experience, including site architecture, crawl budget management, and large-scale website audits.
- Demonstrated experience adapting SEO strategy for AI Overviews, generative search, or LLM-based answer engines (GEO/AISO/AEO) is mandatory.
- Proven track record of driving measurable organic growth for mid-to-large websites or multiple client accounts.
- Experience with e-commerce, SaaS, or content-heavy websites is an advantage.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE — AI, LLM & EMERGING SEARCH TERMINOLOGY
- Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) / AI Search Optimization (AISO) / Answer Engine Optimization (AEO).
- Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and how it affects content chunking and structuring for AI retrieval.
- LLM crawlers and bot management — GPTBot, Google-Extended, PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot, CCBot, Applebot-Extended.
- AI Overviews (formerly SGE – Search Generative Experience), Google's AI Mode, and conversational search interfaces (ChatGPT Search, Perplexity, Copilot, Gemini).
- Entity-based SEO, knowledge graphs, and semantic search concepts.
- Vector embeddings and semantic similarity as they relate to content discoverability by LLMs.
- Structured data / Schema.org markup optimized for both traditional rich results and AI comprehension.
- Zero-click search behavior and its impact on traffic attribution and content strategy.
- Prompt-level visibility tracking — monitoring how and when a brand is cited or recommended within AI-generated responses.

- Hands-on proficiency with SEO and AI-visibility tools: Google Search Console, GA4, Screaming Frog, Sitebulb, Ahrefs/SEMrush, and emerging LLM-tracking platforms.
- Working knowledge of HTML, JavaScript rendering, and how these affect both traditional crawlers and AI bots.
