Senior Specialist – Grants and Research
Location: Dehradun, Uttarakhand
Experience: 2-4 years
Key responsibilities:
Field Data Collection (30%)
- Conduct biodiversity surveys, species identification, and ecological assessments.
- Collect and manage datasets on flora, fauna, and ecosystem parameters.
- Utilize IoT devices, geotagging tools, and blockchain systems for monitoring and reporting.
- Must be open to travel frequently for field data collection.
Research and Analysis (40%)
- Design and implement research frameworks in forestry, agroforestry, and sustainable land management.
- Experience in project design, baseline survey protocols, and monitoring indicators.
- Capacity to synthesize scientific and policy information into actionable formats for diverse audiences.
- Analyze ecological datasets and interpret findings for restoration modeling and impact reporting.
- Prepare and publish research papers in peer-reviewed journals.
- Develop monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) frameworks aligned with national and global restoration policies.
Grants and Proposal Development (30%)
- Identify funding opportunities including CSR grants, international donor programs, and government schemes.
- Knowledge of national and global restoration frameworks (SDGs, Bonn Challenge, Green India Mission etc.).
- Draft high-quality grant applications and technical proposals.
- Build partnerships with donors, research institutions, and policy stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements and transparent reporting.
- Collaborative approach to working with communities, government agencies, and international partners.
Expected Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Botany, Wildlife Science, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of relevant professional experience in ecological research, ecosystem restoration, grant writing, or environmental projects.
- Demonstrated experience in research proposal writing and/or peer-reviewed publications.
- Strong analytical skills, including data analysis, statistical interpretation, and ecological modeling.
- Understanding of CSR grant application processes and experience in donor engagement is preferred.
- Practical experience in flora and fauna identification, biodiversity assessments, and field-based ecological work.
- Knowledge of ecosystem restoration, agroforestry systems, and sustainable land management practices.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies such as IoT devices, geotagging, and blockchain applications in ecological monitoring.
- Excellent communication skills, including technical writing, documentation, and stakeholder coordination.
