Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Formwork Foreman to supervise and coordinate formwork activities at construction sites. The candidate will be responsible for managing formwork workers, ensuring proper installation and alignment of shuttering systems, maintaining site safety, and completing formwork activities according to approved drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily formwork and shuttering activities at the construction site.
- Lead and coordinate carpenters, shuttering carpenters, helpers, and other formwork workers.
- Study structural and formwork drawings and execute work according to specifications.
- Plan and organize manpower, materials, tools, and equipment required for formwork activities.
- Ensure proper alignment, level, plumb, dimensions, and stability of formwork.
- Supervise installation and dismantling of columns, beams, slabs, walls, foundations, staircases, and other structural formwork.
- Ensure formwork is properly supported, braced, tied, and secured before concrete pouring.
- Coordinate with Site Engineers, Surveyors, Steel Fixers, and Concrete Teams.
- Check formwork before concrete placement and rectify any defects or dimensional discrepancies.
- Supervise stripping/deshuttering activities safely and according to project requirements.
- Monitor the condition, reuse, cleaning, and proper storage of shuttering materials.
- Manage materials such as plywood, timber, steel shuttering, aluminium formwork, props, scaffolding, tie rods, clamps, and accessories.
- Minimize material wastage and ensure efficient utilization of formwork materials.
- Maintain daily records of manpower, work progress, material usage, and completed work.
- Ensure work is completed according to the project schedule.
- Identify site issues and coordinate with engineers for timely resolution.
- Enforce proper housekeeping and safety practices within the work area.
- Ensure workers use appropriate PPE and follow site safety procedures.
- Train and guide workers on proper formwork installation and safe working methods.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- ITI / Diploma in Civil Engineering, Carpentry, or a related trade preferred.
- 3–8 years of experience in formwork/shuttering activities.
- Strong practical knowledge of construction formwork systems.
- Ability to read and understand structural and formwork drawings.
- Good knowledge of slab, beam, column, wall, foundation, and staircase shuttering.
- Experience with conventional shuttering and/or aluminium formwork systems is an advantage.
- Ability to manage and supervise a team of workers.
- Good understanding of construction safety practices.
- Strong measurement, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Experience
Experience in residential buildings, high-rise projects, commercial buildings, infrastructure projects, industrial projects, or aluminium formwork projects will be preferred.
