Designation: Production Supervisor
Reporting To: Production Manager
1. Job Purpose
To supervise and control day-to-day production activities of Strip Enamelling, CTC Covering, Extrusion and Rolling Mill processes, ensuring achievement of production targets with the required quality, productivity, safety and delivery standards.
The position is responsible for effective manpower deployment, machine utilization, process control, material consumption, production reporting and coordination with Quality, Maintenance, PPC, Stores and other concerned departments.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Production Operations
Supervise daily and shift-wise production activities as per the approved production
plan.
Ensure achievement of production targets for Strip Enamelling, CTC Covering,
Extrusion and Rolling Mill.
Allocate manpower and assign work responsibilities according to production
requirements and employee skills.
Monitor production output, machine utilization, and line speed and process efficiency.
Ensure smooth production flow and minimize machine idle time and production
stoppages.
Identify production bottlenecks and coordinate with concerned departments for timely
resolution.
Ensure proper shift handover and communicate pending jobs, abnormalities and
production status to the next shift.
B. Strip Enamelling Process
Supervise the strip enamelling process as per approved specifications and process
parameters.
Monitor critical parameters such as strip dimensions, line speed, and enamel
application, curing temperature, coating thickness and insulation quality.
Ensure proper handling and identification of enamelled strips.
Minimize enamel wastage, rejection, rework and process losses.
Coordinate with Quality Department for inspection and testing of enamelled strips.
C. CTC Covering Process
Supervise CTC covering operations as per production requirements and approved
specifications.
Ensure proper covering, insulation application, tension, alignment and winding of
CTC conductors.
Monitor process parameters and ensure consistency throughout the production
batch.
Ensure proper handling, identification and protection of finished/semi-finished CTC
products.
Take corrective action in case of insulation defects, dimensional variation, winding
issues or other process abnormalities.
D. Extrusion Process
Supervise extrusion operations according to approved process parameters and
production specifications.
Monitor extrusion temperature, line speed, material feeding, insulation thickness,
diameter and cooling conditions as applicable.
Ensure proper preparation and handling of extrusion materials.
Minimize extrusion defects, material wastage, rejection and rework.
Coordinate with Quality and Maintenance teams for process deviations and machine-
related issues.
E. Rolling Mill Operations
Supervise Rolling Mill operations to achieve required strip dimensions, production
quantity and surface quality.
Ensure proper setting and operation of rolling equipment as per approved process
parameters.
Monitor strip thickness, width, flatness, surface condition, rolling speed and
dimensional accuracy.
Ensure proper material feeding, handling and winding.
Coordinate with Maintenance for roll, machine and equipment-related problems.
Control material loss, scrap and process wastage.
3. Quality Control
Ensure production is carried out strictly as per approved SOPs, work instructions,
drawings and product specifications.
Monitor critical quality parameters during production.
Coordinate with the Quality Department for inspection, testing and clearance of
products.
Immediately identify and isolate non-conforming material.
Investigate recurring defects and support corrective and preventive actions.
Ensure proper product identification and batch/lot traceability.
Maintain focus on First Time Right (FTR) production and reduction of
rejection/rework.
4. Manpower Management
Ensure adequate manpower availability for the assigned shift.
Deploy operators and helpers effectively according to machine and production
requirements.
Monitor attendance, discipline, punctuality and productivity.
Provide on-the-job training and guidance to operators and helpers.
Ensure employees understand applicable SOPs, safety instructions and quality
requirements.
Identify skill gaps and communicate training requirements to the Section In-charge.
5. Machine & Maintenance Coordination
Ensure machines are operated within approved operating parameters.
Conduct basic pre-start and routine machine checks.
Monitor machine performance and identify abnormalities.
Immediately report breakdowns and abnormal machine conditions to the
Maintenance Department.
Coordinate with Maintenance for breakdown maintenance and preventive
maintenance activities.
Ensure machines, tools and production equipment are maintained in clean and
workable condition.
Support efforts to reduce breakdown time, minor stoppages and equipment-related
production losses.
6. Material Management
Ensure availability of required copper/aluminium strips, enamel, insulation/covering
materials, extrusion materials, consumables and packing materials.
Verify material identification before use.
Ensure proper material handling and storage within the production area.
Control material consumption and minimize wastage.
Ensure unused materials are properly returned or stored after completion of
production.
7. PPC & Inter-Department Coordination
Coordinate effectively with:
PPC/Planning – for production schedules and priorities.
Quality – for inspection, testing and quality issues.
Maintenance – for breakdowns, repairs and preventive maintenance.
Stores – for raw material and consumable availability.
Dispatch – for finished product requirements and delivery priorities.
R&D/Technical Team – for process/product-related technical issues, wherever required.
8. Safety & 5S
Ensure strict compliance with all plant safety rules and PPE requirements.
Ensure operators follow safe operating practices for enamelling, covering, extrusion
and rolling equipment.
Identify and report unsafe acts and unsafe conditions.
Ensure proper machine guarding and safety devices are not bypassed.
Report accidents, near misses and safety incidents immediately.
Maintain excellent 5S, housekeeping and workplace discipline in the assigned area.
Ensure proper handling of hot surfaces, chemicals/materials, rotating equipment and
other process-specific hazards.
9. Production Documentation & Reporting
Prepare and maintain shift-wise production reports.
Record:
o Production quantity
o Rejection and rework
o Material consumption
o Scrap/wastage
o Machine downtime
o Breakdown details
o Manpower deployment
o Process abnormalities
Ensure accurate production data is entered in the prescribed system/registers.
Submit daily/shift production reports to the Section In-charge.
Ensure proper documentation and traceability of production batches.
10. Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities for improvement in productivity, quality, material utilization and
machine efficiency.
Participate in Kaizen, 5S, productivity improvement and cost-reduction initiatives.
Suggest methods to reduce rejection, rework, scrap, energy consumption and
process losses.
Support implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
Promote a culture of zero defect, zero accident and minimum wastage.

12. Required Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of manufacturing and production processes.
Practical knowledge of Strip Enamelling, CTC Covering, Extrusion and Rolling Mill
operations.
Ability to understand production drawings, specifications and process parameters.
Good manpower handling and supervisory skills.
Problem-solving and troubleshooting ability.
13. Educational Qualification & Experience
Qualification: Degree / Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Production Engineering or a
relevant technical discipline.
Experience: Approximately 3–7 years of relevant experience in CTC, copper/aluminium
conductor, wire & cable, enamelling, extrusion, rolling mill or similar manufacturing
industries, preferably with supervisory experience.
14. Authority & Accountability
The Production Supervisor is accountable for the safe, efficient and timely execution of
assigned CTC production activities, including Strip Enamelling, CTC Covering, Extrusion and
Rolling Mill operations.
The position is responsible for ensuring production target achievement, process compliance, product quality, manpower utilization, machine efficiency, material yield, safety, housekeeping and accurate production reporting during the assigned shift.
Pay: ₹45,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
