JOB DESCRIPTION – FIRE OFFICER
Reports To
Security & Safety Manager / Property Manager / Facility Manager
Purpose of the Role
The Fire Officer is responsible for overseeing all fire prevention, fire protection, emergency preparedness, and life safety operations within the residential complex. The Fire Officer shall ensure compliance with statutory fire safety regulations, supervise Fire Marshals, conduct inspections, manage fire systems, coordinate emergency responses, and promote a culture of fire and life safety among residents, staff, contractors, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
1. Fire Safety Operations Management
- Supervise all Fire Marshals and fire safety operations within the property.
- Ensure proper Hand Over-Take Over (HO-TO) during shift changes.
- Conduct daily briefings covering safety instructions, grooming standards, ongoing works, and hazards.
- Ensure Fire Marshals report on time, in proper uniform, and fit for duty.
- Review shift reports and ensure continuity of operations.
- Remain vigilant and maintain operational readiness at all times.
2. Fire Prevention & Inspection
- Conduct routine inspections of:
- Fire pump rooms
- Fire control room
- Fire exits and staircases
- Refuge areas
- Electrical rooms
- DG rooms
- Transformer rooms
- Utility areas
- Basements and parking areas
- Identify and eliminate fire hazards.
- Ensure fire exits remain unobstructed.
- Ensure emergency lighting and exit signage remain operational.
- Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments.
3. Fire Protection Systems Management
- Monitor operational readiness of:
- Fire pumps
- Sprinkler systems
- Fire hydrants
- Hose reels
- Fire extinguishers
- Fire alarm systems
- Smoke detection systems
- Beam detectors
- Pressurization systems
- Public Address Systems
- Ensure regular inspections and testing.
- Maintain records of all inspections and tests.
4. Permit-to-Work Monitoring
- Verify Hot Work Permits before commencement of work.
- Ensure all hot work areas are adequately protected.
- Confirm availability of firefighting equipment at work sites.
- Monitor welding, cutting, grinding, and other hazardous activities.
- Ensure compliance with fire safety requirements during fit-out and maintenance work.
5. Emergency Response
- Respond to fire alarms and emergency situations.
- Lead emergency response until relieved by senior management or emergency services.
- Coordinate evacuation procedures.
- Liaise with local fire brigade and emergency responders.
- Respond to medical emergencies and administer first aid when trained and authorized.
6. Training & Awareness
- Conduct fire and life safety training for:
- Residents
- Staff
- Contractors
- Vendors
- Conduct fire drills and evacuation exercises.
Promote fire safety awareness through campaigns and notices.
- daily, weekly, and monthly inspection reports.
- Insure Monthly inventory Update
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per hour
Expected hours: 9.0 per week
