As discussed, we are planning to strengthen the Purchase Department by adding a technically inclined procurement resource who can support both regular procurement activities as well as technical/vendor development-related work.
Currently, the team is largely focused on operational procurement and order processing. However, there is a need for a person who can actively support:
Vendor development
Material sourcing
Technical comparison of products
Finishing material procurement
Market benchmarking
Coordination with architects/designers/sites
Procurement support for Civil, Finishing and basic MEP-related items
This role is not intended to function as only a backend purchase coordination role.
The intention is to build a more market-facing and technically aware procurement system within the organization.
Broad Scope of the Role
The role will handle:
Regular procurement activities
Finishing material procurement
Vendor development
Market visits
Material comparisons
Technical coordination related to materials
Support in identifying alternate products/vendors
Coordination with sites, consultants and vendors
The person will also support procurement of:
Tiles
Marble/stone
Paint
CP & sanitary
Hardware
Lighting
Carpets
Interior/finishing items

1. Vendor Development & Market Visits
The role is expected to actively identify and develop new vendors and suppliers.
This includes:
Visiting markets/showrooms/vendors
Identifying alternate suppliers
Benchmarking pricing and quality
Understanding new products/materials available in the market
Reducing dependency on limited vendors
The role may require travel within Pune as well as outside Pune depending on vendor identification and sourcing requirements.

The role is expected to understand materials and specifications rather than only processing purchase requests.
For example: If a consultant/designer specifies a particular brand/product, the role should be capable of:
Identifying alternate equivalent brands
Comparing specifications
Comparing pricing and lead times
Coordinating samples
Discussing with vendors/manufacturers
Supporting value engineering discussions where possible

Coordinate with architects, consultants and site teams for material requirements
Compare products, specifications and commercial offers
Coordinate sample approvals and vendor discussions
Support value engineering and alternate material evaluations where applicable
Routine Procurement Activities
Float enquiries and collect quotations
Prepare comparative statements
Coordinate purchase orders and deliveries
Follow up with vendors and sites
Support procurement MIS and documentation
Coordinate with stores and accounts wherever required
