Key Responsibilities
- Design and development of high power converters, inverters, choppers, and rectifier systems
- Application of power electronics systems in rolling stock, rail traction, and associated industrial applications
- Integration of energy storage systems (battery-based or hybrid systems) with power electronics architecture
- Perform detailed simulation and analysis using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PSIM, and PSpice
- Conduct switching analysis, harmonic analysis, and system efficiency optimization
- Develop and implement protection schemes, interlocks, and coordination philosophy
- Develop control philosophy, operational logic, and functional requirements for converter systems
- Define PWM strategies, switching sequences, and modulation techniques
- Coordinate with firmware/embedded teams for control implementation and validation
- Carry out electrical validation and performance verification of designed systems
- Prepare detailed Bill of Materials (BOM) aligned with system design
- Support prototype development, including assembly coordination and debugging
- Participate in testing, validation, commissioning, and performance assessment
- Identify design and control issues and implement corrective and optimization measures
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Mechanical, Control, Manufacturing, and QA
- Ensure adherence to applicable standards, safety norms, and quality requirements

External:
- Limited interaction (primarily internal execution role, with occasional support during commissioning if required)
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.Tech/B.E.) in Electrical / Power Electronics Engineering
- Master’s degree preferred but not mandatory
Experience
- 2 to 5 years of experience in design and development of high power electronic systems
- Experience in converter/inverter/chopper/rectifier systems and control logic understanding is essential
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of power electronics fundamentals and high power converter topologies
- Knowledge of control strategies, PWM techniques, and switching behavior
- Hands-on experience with simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink, PSIM, PSpice)
