COWI's Heavy Civil team in India is rapidly growing and to support the growth we are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Leading HVAC and tunnel ventilation system design from feasibility, proposal, FEED, and detailed design stages through project completion.
- Delivering sustainable and energy-efficient HVAC and ventilation solutions for road tunnels, rail/metro tunnels, underground and elevated stations, technical buildings, and related infrastructure facilities.
- Performing and review heat load calculations, ventilation calculations, equipment sizing, duct pressure loss, and pump head calculations.
- Developing HVAC system layouts, including chilled water, VRF/VRV, ventilation, ducting, and piping systems.
- Selecting and specifying HVAC equipment such as chillers, AHUs, FCUs, fans, and pumps in accordance with project requirements and applicable country/regional standards
- Building and maintaining strong working relationships with clients, contractors, vendors, and other key project stakeholders.
- Using working knowledge of HVAC and energy analysis tools, and the ability to integrate results into coordinated designs, is preferred
- Liaising with clients, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders throughout project execution.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable international and local standards including ASHRAE, NFPA, IEC, BS/EN, and project-specific infrastructure and tunnel requirements.
- Utilizing industry-standard software including HAP, IES VE, Hevacomp, TRACE, Revit MEP, AutoCAD, Navisworks, CFD, PyroSim, Tunnel 1D, and MS Office.

You have a Bachelors/Master's degree in Mechanical engineering and have 10 years of relevant experience preferably in Heavy civil Infrastructure. Candidates holding IGBC Accredited Professional (IGBC AP) and Chartered Engineer (CEng) certifications will be preferred.
On top of that, you will:
- Have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Master’s degree and/ or Chartered Engineer (CEng/PE/MIE or equivalent) certification is preferred.
- Have professional experience of more than 10 years in design and management of large, complex, multidisciplinary projects, internationally.
- Lead, mentor and support junior engineers and designers, fostering technical development and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Have proven leadership experience in global design delivery or international consulting environment.
- Have demonstrated experience of working in multi-cultural and multi-national team environment. Working experience within North America, Scandinavian or UK markets would be advantageous.
- Have demonstrated impeccable English communication skills – verbal and written.
- Be self-driven and intrinsically motivated to make a positive difference for the team, COWI and self.
- Have experience to manage mechanical system interfaces across multidisciplinary infrastructure projects and resolve technical issues throughout the project lifecycle.
- Have experience to apply company QA/QC procedures and conduct thorough reviews of engineering deliverables to ensure quality, consistency, constructability, and reliability.
- Have experience to support project planning, resource management, technical risk assessments, and proposal/ business development activities as required.
- Have in-depth knowledge of HVAC and Tunnel ventilation systems
