How you might spend your days
As an Advanced Instrumentation Engineer, you’ll be working with an innovative, multi-disciplinary team where you’ll:
- Perform and review on IO allocations, IO schedule, JB schedule, etc.
- Perform and review electrical and control wiring for Instruments.
- Have sound knowledge in ATEX, ISA and IEC, safety requirements.
- Understanding of testing and calibration of Instruments.
- Tendering, BOQ preparation.
- Review of vendor offers.
- Technical Bid Evaluation.
- Participating in FAT/SAT activities.
- Responsible for operational or administrative deliverables where output is complex.
- Make decisions and solve problems related to the Instrumentation design activities for the project.
- Will be supporting the lead/Senior of the project or package from the project in all project sizes and phases.
- Demonstrates subject matter knowledge.
- Coordinate technical work with HSE, Process, Automation, Electrical, BMS and Mechanical.
- Shall be able to execute pharma projects independently and take Instrumentation Specification and sizing responsibility in all projects.
- Should have the ability to understand the scope baseline and should have thorough knowledge in addressing change control.
- Expected to, take initiative, prioritize, and plan the work to reach deadlines.
- Ensure interfaces to and coordination with other disciplines.
- Ensure disciplinary consistency, quality, and compliance.
- Expected to adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment, or techniques to accomplish the correct output of specific assigned tasks.
- Coordinate and support other team members in their discipline or department.
- Follow the latest technology trends within the instrumentation discipline.
- Review the work of Engineers/ Junior’s in own discipline.
- Share knowledge across projects for technical and project execution alignment within own discipline.
- Cost calculations, input for proposals and review of costs for proposals.
- Support in development of standards and guidelines.
- Technical leadership setting direction/standards within and in alignment with the team.
- Passionate about technical discipline.
- Makes operational decisions through a choice between known alternatives. Provide advice to customers proactively.

- Planning and progress evaluation skills at the overall discipline level.

- Agile and able to prioritize urgent tasks.

- Instrument Specification design & review
- Instrument sizing
- DCS/PLC system design, architecture, and configuration drawings
- P&ID review
- Tendering, BOQ,
- ATEX principles / hazardous area design requirements
- HAZOP and/or LOPA studies (Added Advantage)
- Intrinsically safe calculations (Added Advantage)
- SIL calculations / functional safety/safety functions (Added advantage)
- SPI tool / Intools (Added advantage)
- AutoCAD (Added advantage)
What you bring to the role
In all positions there are some things that are needed, and others a bonus. We believe these qualifications are needed for you to do well in this role:
- You have a degree in engineering in Instrumentation Engineering or relevant engineering discipline
- You have a minimum of 6 years of Engineering experience in Pharma/ Oil & Gas/ chemical industries or similar
- Fluent in English, spoken and written.
