Job Summary
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Costing Engineer Intern to support our Estimation and Costing team. The intern will gain practical experience in quantity take-offs, cost estimation, rate analysis, budgeting, tender preparation, and project cost control for civil engineering, surveying, mapping, and infrastructure projects.
This internship provides an opportunity to develop practical knowledge of project costing, commercial evaluation, tendering, and cost-control practices in a professional engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing project cost estimates, budgets, and costing calculations.
- Perform quantity take-offs from engineering drawings, BOQs, and project specifications.
- Support rate analysis for labour, materials, equipment, and subcontract works.
- Collect and compile supplier and subcontractor quotations for cost comparison.
- Prepare cost comparison statements and estimation reports.
- Review engineering drawings and identify cost-related requirements and inputs.
- Assist in preparing technical and commercial tender submissions.
- Maintain estimation records, cost databases, quotations, and supporting documents.
- Support project teams in monitoring project costs and identifying budget variances.
- Assist in preparing Excel-based costing models, calculations, and reports.
- Coordinate with estimation, engineering, procurement, and project teams as required.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of costing information and documentation.
- Support the team in meeting tender and estimation deadlines.
Educational Qualification
- B.Tech / B.E. in Civil Engineering.
- Final-year students and recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Basic understanding of civil engineering construction practices.
- Interest in estimation, quantity surveying, costing, and commercial activities.
Technical Skills
- Basic knowledge of quantity surveying and estimation principles.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Basic understanding of BOQs, quantities, rates, and cost calculations.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD is an added advantage.
- Good numerical and analytical skills.
