Job Title: IP Lead (Patent Operations & Business Development)
Location: Mohali, Sector 70 (Onsite)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic IP Lead to oversee patent operations, manage a high-performing team, drive operational excellence, and support business growth through domestic and international lead generation. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in patent prosecution support, IP operations, client relationship management, process improvement, and team leadership.
As an IP Lead, you will be responsible for ensuring timely and high-quality patent prosecution support while contributing to the organization's strategic growth by identifying new business opportunities and building long-term client relationships
Key Responsibilities
1. Intellectual Property (IP) Operations
- Lead and manage end-to-end Intellectual Property (IP) operations across patent prosecution, patent analytics, and IP support services.
- Oversee patent prosecution support activities, ensuring timely and accurate execution.
- Manage IDS (Information Disclosure Statement) preparation and filing.
- Prepare filing packages and formal documents, including Assignments, Declarations, Form-1s, Powers of Attorney, Information Disclosure Statements (IDS), and other patent prosecution documentation.
- Coordinate patent filing activities for Indian, US, PCT, and other international jurisdictions.
- Track prosecution deadlines and ensure timely responses to Office Actions and statutory requirements.
- Coordinate with patent attorneys, patent agents, inventors, clients, and international associates.
2. Business Development & Lead Generation
Domestic (India)
- Identify and develop new business opportunities among startups, MSMEs, corporates, universities, research institutions, incubators, and innovation centers.
- Build relationships with patent attorneys, law firms, technology companies, and R&D organizations.
- Generate leads through LinkedIn, networking events, seminars, webinars, referrals, and industry associations.
- Prepare proposals, capability presentations, and commercial quotations.
International
- Develop business opportunities across the US, Europe, UK, Australia, Singapore, Japan, the Middle East, and other global markets.
- Build strategic relationships with international law firms, patent professionals, innovation firms, and corporate IP departments.
- Conduct international client meetings, email campaigns, and virtual presentations.
- Expand strategic partnerships and long-term client accounts.
3. Contracts & Client Onboarding
- Coordinate the preparation, review, and execution of Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), Master Service Agreements (MSAs), Statements of Work (SOWs), and service contracts.
- Lead commercial discussions and coordinate contract negotiations with clients.
- Manage MoU signing, agreement execution, and onboarding processes.
- Coordinate with legal, finance, and operations teams to ensure seamless client onboarding.
- Maintain contract documentation, renewals, amendments, and compliance records.
4. Patent Search & Patent Analytics
- Conduct and review Patentability (Novelty) Searches.
- Conduct Prior Art Searches using global patent and non-patent literature databases.
- Perform Freedom-to-Operate (FTO) Searches and Analysis.
- Conduct Invalidity/Validity Searches.
- Perform State-of-the-Art (SOA) Searches.
- Conduct Patent Landscape Analysis and Technology Landscape Studies.
- Perform Patent Portfolio Analysis and Competitive Intelligence.
- Conduct Patent Watch and Competitor Monitoring.
- Perform Design Searches and Trademark Searches where required.
- Prepare search reports, analytical summaries, and recommendations for clients.
5. Patent Drafting & Prosecution Support
- Coordinate patent drafting activities with patent attorneys and technical experts.
- Review invention disclosure forms (IDFs).
- Support preparation and review of patent specifications.
- Coordinate filing of provisional, complete, convention, national phase, continuation, divisional, continuation-in-part (CIP), and PCT applications.
- Manage Office Action responses and prosecution support.
- Support patent portfolio management throughout the patent lifecycle.
6. IP Database & Knowledge Management
- Manage patent databases and IP management software such as Foundation IP, Memotech, Salesforce/Novum, First to File, and similar systems.
- Maintain accurate prosecution records and client databases.
- Generate dashboards and MIS reports.
- Develop and maintain IP knowledge repositories and standard documentation.
7. Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor the IP Operations team.
- Allocate projects and monitor workload distribution.
- Train, and develop new team members.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide technical guidance.
- Establish SOPs and best practices for IP operations.
- Promote knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
8. Process Improvement & Quality Assurance
- Design and implement operational improvements to increase productivity and efficiency.
- Conduct regular quality audits of search reports, prosecution documents, and client deliverables.
- Implement quality control procedures and corrective actions.
- Drive automation initiatives and workflow optimization.
- Monitor KPIs, SLAs, turnaround time, and service quality.
9. Client Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for domestic and international clients.
- Understand client requirements and provide customized IP solutions.
- Conduct client review meetings and project discussions.
- Ensure timely delivery and high client satisfaction.
- Resolve client queries and manage escalations.
10. Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly business and operational reports.
- Monitor project profitability, resource utilization, and delivery performance.
- Ensure compliance with IP laws, client confidentiality requirements, ISO processes, and organizational policies.
- Support management in strategic planning, budgeting, and business growth initiatives.

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
