About the Role
VPN Controls Pvt. Ltd. is looking for an experienced Electrical Draftsman to join our Design & Engineering team. The candidate will be responsible for preparing electrical drawings, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, SLDs, BOMs and manufacturing drawings for LT Electrical Panels, MCC/PCC Panels, VFD Panels, PLC/Automation Panels, APFC Panels, Instrumentation Panels and Junction Boxes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed electrical schematic and control circuit drawings.
- Prepare Single Line Diagrams (SLD) and power/control wiring diagrams.
- Prepare GA, panel layout, mounting plate and fabrication drawings.
- Prepare electrical drawings for MCC, PCC, VFD, PLC, APFC and automation panels.
- Prepare Junction Box (JB) layouts, terminal plans and wiring diagrams.
- Prepare and update Bill of Materials (BOM) as per approved drawings.
- Generate terminal schedules, cable schedules, wire numbering and component layouts.
- Select and incorporate component part numbers from approved manufacturers.
- Coordinate with the Electrical Design, Purchase, Production and Project teams.
- Review drawings against customer specifications and project requirements.
- Modify drawings based on engineering/customer comments.
- Maintain proper revision control and drawing documentation.
- Support the production team during panel manufacturing and wiring.
- Prepare final as-built drawings after project completion.
- Ensure drawings comply with applicable electrical standards and company design practices.
Required Software Skills
- AutoCAD Electrical / AutoCAD 2D – Mandatory
- EPLAN Electric P8 – Preferred
- MS Excel and MS Office
- Knowledge of electrical CAD standards and drawing management
Technical Knowledge
The candidate should have working knowledge of:
- LT electrical panels
- MCC/PCC panels
- VFD panels
- PLC and automation panels
- Control circuits
- Contactors, relays, MCCBs, MCBs and protection devices
- CTs, meters and control transformers
- PLC I/O and control wiring
- 24V DC control circuits
- Terminal blocks and marshalling
- Cable sizing and cable schedules
- Electrical symbols and numbering
- Panel GA and component mounting arrangements
- Industrial automation and instrumentation drawings
Educational Qualification
Diploma / ITI / B.Tech / B.E. in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering
Desired Candidate Profile
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in electrical panel manufacturing / automation / switchgear industry.
- Good understanding of electrical drawings and panel construction.
- Ability to independently prepare drawings from customer specifications, BOMs and engineering inputs.
- Good coordination and communication skills.
- Ability to work under project deadlines.
- Experience with Siemens, Schneider, ABB, L&T, INVT or similar electrical/automation components will be an advantage.
