We are seeking a passionate and skilled Italian Sous Chef to join our café in Chandigarh. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of authentic Italian cuisine, with hands-on experience in preparing fresh handmade pasta, traditional sauces, and classic Italian dishes. The Sous Chef will assist the Head Chef in maintaining the highest standards of food quality, hygiene, and kitchen operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook authentic Italian dishes according to established recipes and quality standards.
- Make fresh handmade pasta daily, including dough preparation, rolling, cutting, shaping, and filling.
- Prepare authentic Italian sauces, soups, risottos, pizzas, and desserts.
- Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and portion control.
- Assist in menu planning and development of seasonal Italian specials.
- Supervise and train junior kitchen staff.
- Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety standards in accordance with FSSAI guidelines.
- Monitor inventory, minimize food wastage, and assist with stock ordering.
- Ensure smooth kitchen operations during service and support the Head Chef as required.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Sous Chef, Chef de Partie, or similar role in an authentic Italian restaurant, café, or fine dining establishment.
- Proven experience in preparing fresh handmade pasta and traditional Italian cuisine.
- Strong knowledge of authentic Italian cooking techniques, ingredients, and recipes.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Good organizational, communication, and team management skills.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen sanitation practices.
- Culinary certification or relevant hospitality qualification is preferred.
Preferred Skills
- Expertise in handmade pasta production and Italian sauces.
- Experience with wood-fired or stone-baked pizzas is an advantage.
- Creativity in developing authentic Italian menu items.
- Ability to maintain high-quality standards under pressure.

Pay: ₹28,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
