Manager – Public Relations
MASH Project Foundation | Delhi | Hybrid
MASH Project Foundation is a social impact consultancy and a Gates Foundation Goalkeepers Global Goals awardee. We work with nonprofits, philanthropies, and companies to scale their impact through strategic media communications and community-building initiatives.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced, well-networked and editorially sharp Manager – Public Relations to lead PR and media communications for both MASH and its clients across the nonprofit, philanthropy and corporate impact space.
This is a strategic + hands-on role where you will own the complete PR lifecycle — from developing narratives and media strategies to building journalist relationships, securing earned media, positioning spokespersons and measuring impact. You will also help shape MASH's voice as a thought leader in the social impact sector.
Key Responsibilities
Client PR & Strategy
- Develop and execute PR and media strategies aligned with client objectives.
- Lead assigned client accounts and manage PR deliverables end-to-end.
- Develop press releases, media notes, op-eds, bylines, quotes, media kits and briefing documents.
- Prepare and coach spokespersons for interviews, panels, podcasts and media appearances.
- Identify speaking opportunities, awards, festivals and industry forums.
Media Relations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, producers, columnists and independent creators.
- Develop media relationships across development, sustainability, CSR, philanthropy, business and policy.
- Proactively pitch stories and secure earned coverage across print, digital, broadcast, wire services, newsletters and podcasts.
- Track the news agenda and identify newsjacking and rapid-response opportunities.
- Manage media partners, PR agencies and freelancers.
MASH Thought Leadership
- Build and manage the thought-leadership calendar for MASH leadership.
- Position MASH and its leadership across conferences, panels, sector convenings, juries and award platforms in India and globally.
- Work with content and digital teams to maintain a consistent organisational narrative.
Team & Operations
- Lead and mentor associates and interns.
- Manage PR budgets, vendors, retainers and monitoring tools.
- Build SOPs, templates, trackers and processes for scalable PR delivery.
- Support business development through proposals, pitch decks and costing.
- Maintain clear communication with clients and internal stakeholders.
Reporting & Impact
- Track KPIs including earned coverage, share of voice, message pull-through, spokesperson visibility and campaign reach.
- Prepare monthly and campaign-end reports with meaningful analysis.
- Provide strategic insights on media trends, narratives and growth opportunities.
What We're Looking For
- 5–8 years of experience in PR, corporate communications or journalism.
- At least 2 years of client/stakeholder management experience.
- A strong, active network of media contacts.
- Proven experience securing tier-one earned media coverage.
- Excellent written English and strong editorial judgement.
- Ability to identify compelling stories within complex social-impact programmes.
- Comfortable working in a lean, fast-paced environment where you both strategise and execute.
- Degree in communications, journalism, public policy, development studies or a related field.
Good to have:
- Experience in social impact, development, philanthropy, CSR or an agency serving these sectors.
- Understanding of SDGs and impact measurement.
- Hindi or another Indian language for regional media engagement.
- Experience with media monitoring, PR tools and digital/influencer communications.
- Experience managing or mentoring junior team members.
