Job Title: Science Lab Teacher / Laboratory Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking a qualified, responsible, and safety-conscious Science Lab Teacher to manage the school science laboratory and support students and teachers in conducting practical experiments. The candidate will ensure proper laboratory operations, maintain equipment and records, and create a safe and engaging practical-learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist teachers and students in conducting Physics, Chemistry, and Biology practicals as required.
- Prepare laboratory equipment, apparatus, specimens, chemicals, and materials before practical sessions.
- Demonstrate proper use of laboratory equipment and experimental procedures.
- Ensure strict compliance with laboratory safety rules and procedures.
- Maintain and update records of laboratory equipment, chemicals, consumables, and stock.
- Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and proper functioning of the laboratory.
- Check laboratory equipment regularly and report damaged or faulty items.
- Maintain proper storage and labeling of chemicals, specimens, glassware, and other materials.
- Assist students during practical activities and encourage safe experimental practices.
- Support Science Teachers in preparing demonstrations, experiments, projects, and practical examinations.
- Maintain laboratory registers, stock records, issue records, and maintenance documentation.
- Ensure appropriate disposal and handling of laboratory waste according to school safety procedures.
- Assist in practical examinations, science exhibitions, projects, and school activities.
- Inform the Science HOD/Principal about any safety concerns, shortages, or equipment requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science / Physics / Chemistry / Biology or a relevant discipline.
- B.Ed. / relevant laboratory or teaching qualification will be an advantage.
- Practical knowledge of school-level science laboratory procedures.
- Previous experience working in a school laboratory will be preferred.
- Good understanding of laboratory safety and equipment handling.
