We are looking for: Project Engineer - AIS MV Switchgear
You’ll make an impact by:
- Review and analyse the Customer specifications, commercial/technical documents, and product requirements to develop detailed design engineering essential for the review and manufacture of MV switchgear.
- Identify and define preliminary scope of work for Switchgear and its associated components that fits the Customer specifications.
- Collaborate with Engineers within the Business Unit to generate technical solutions for the Siemens suite of products.
- Prepare electrical drawing packages (including panel arrangements, nameplate schedule, schematic diagrams, communication drawings, three-line diagrams, general arrangement drawings, and wiring diagrams) for factory manufacturing of the switchgear and customer documentation using engineering design tools.
- Prepare a set of electrical drawings–general arrangement, SLD, detailed drawings.
- Expertise in Switchgear Product Standardization and NEMA Standards
- Expertise and understanding of Fault level calculations and Switchgear ratings.
- Expertise and Understanding of Protection philosophy and component selection
- Prepare Customer-facing Closeout / As built documents for the complete scope of work.
- Engage in Customer discussions by supporting the Business Development, Proposal, and Sales teams.
- Work closely with the Project Management team for efficient and effective Execution of the project.

- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
- 6+ years of engineering experience in Switchgear or control panels for EPC, engineering, manufacturing, utility, or industrial corporate environment.
- An advanced degree may be substituted for 4 years of experience.
- Experience with the design and application of electrical power distribution products and power systems/ power delivery (Switchgear).
- Knowledge of relay P&C schemes, schematics, and communication network diagrams.
- Ability to analyse customers’ technical documentation to interpret and apply appropriate Siemens product offerings to meet the customers’ expectations in a cost-effective and timely manner and offer alternative solutions to optimize profitability while meeting customer needs.
- Basic financial knowledge to understand and participate in ongoing business planning and support the product as well as project lifecycle management processes.
- Excellent collaboration, leadership, and decision-making skills in a team environment, and demonstrated ability to perform and prioritize multiple, simultaneous tasks while maintaining excellent customer service.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively and accurately communicate with internal and external customers.
- Ability to identify market trends and, using this information, work closely with Marketing and Technology to create and justify projects to close the identified gaps.
- Excellent PC skills including Microsoft Office tools and product configuration/pricing applications.
- Experience with Electrical and 2D Layout drawing tools such as EPLAN, AutoCAD, Visio, etc.
- Travel Required – Less than 10%.
- Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education and Experience: –
- Proven ability to create, convert & modify drawings with AutoCAD Electrical or Engineering Base software. Preference given to experience with Engineering Base.
- Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, UL, and NEMA standards for MV Switchgear and P&C.•
- Experience with electrical design for MV switchgear systems & P&C preference given to experience with Siemens switchgear and electrical products.
