Position Overview
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for independently managing and supervising the overall Accounts & Finance function of the organization. The role requires a commercially aware, proactive and responsible finance professional who can manage accounting operations while supporting management with financial planning, cash-flow management, fund allocation, cost control and financial decision-making.
The candidate will act as a Finance Business Partner to Management by providing accurate financial information, identifying financial risks, monitoring cash flow and recommending appropriate financial actions.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Management
- Manage day-to-day accounting and finance operations.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
- Supervise Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, banking, payments, receipts, expenses and general ledger activities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date books of accounts.
- Review accounting entries, reconciliations, vouchers and supporting documents.
- Manage monthly, quarterly and annual closing of accounts.
- Prepare and review financial statements, MIS and management reports.
- Monitor project-wise income, expenditure, profitability and outstanding receivables/payables.
- Handle accounting for interior, architecture and project-related expenses.
Daily Finance & Management Reporting
- Provide daily financial status updates to Management.
- Monitor bank balances, cash position, receivables and collections.
- Track payables, vendor/contractor outstanding and upcoming payment commitments.
- Monitor project-wise financial requirements.
- Highlight fund shortages, cash-flow gaps and critical financial issues.
- Recommend actions for effective utilization of available funds.
Fund & Cash Flow Management
- Prepare and maintain short- and medium-term cash-flow projections.
- Monitor daily cash inflow and outflow.
- Identify upcoming fund requirements in advance.
- Prioritize payments based on business and project requirements.
- Recommend fund allocation and payment priorities.
- Monitor project-wise fund utilization.
- Identify potential cash-flow shortages and working-capital issues.
- Suggest measures to improve working capital and reduce financial blockage.
Financial Decision Support
- Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to Management.
- Evaluate the financial impact of major purchases, vendor payments and project expenditures.
- Identify unnecessary expenses and recommend cost-control measures.
- Highlight financial risks, discrepancies and unusual transactions.
- Support project profitability and financial viability analysis.
- Provide financial inputs for business planning and strategic decisions.
Project & Cost Accounting
- Maintain project-wise financial records.
- Monitor project budgets against actual expenditure.
- Track project advances and collections.
- Monitor vendor and contractor bills.
- Verify project-related expenses and supporting documents.
- Identify project cost overruns and financial deviations.
- Prepare project-wise profitability reports.
- Coordinate with Project, Purchase, Execution and Commercial teams.
Receivables & Payables Management
- Monitor client/customer outstanding on a daily basis.
- Prepare receivable ageing reports and collection forecasts.
- Track committed collection dates and overdue payments.
- Maintain vendor and contractor outstanding reports.
- Prepare payment schedules based on priority and available funds.
- Verify invoices, approvals and supporting documents before payment processing.
- Ensure critical vendor and contractor payments are planned in advance.
MIS & Financial Analysis
- Prepare Daily Finance Status reports.
- Maintain Cash & Bank Position reports.
- Prepare Receivables and Payables Ageing reports.
- Prepare Cash Flow Statements/Projections.
- Prepare Project-wise Profitability and Budget vs. Actual reports.
- Prepare Expense Analysis, Vendor/Contractor Outstanding and Client Outstanding reports.
- Prepare Monthly Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet.
- Provide working-capital and management-specific financial reports.
Statutory Compliance
- Ensure timely accounting and taxation compliance.
- Coordinate with auditors, tax consultants and statutory professionals.
- Manage GST, TDS, Income Tax and other applicable compliances.
- Maintain proper documentation for audits.
- Support internal, statutory and tax audits.
- Monitor statutory liabilities, payments and important deadlines.
Banking & Treasury Management
- Manage day-to-day banking activities.
- Monitor bank balances and transactions.
- Conduct regular bank reconciliations.
- Coordinate with banks for banking requirements.
- Monitor fund transfers and payment transactions.
- Maintain proper controls over online banking and financial transactions.
Team Management
- Independently handle and lead the Accounts & Finance Department.
- Supervise Accounts Executives, Junior Accountants and finance staff.
- Allocate work and monitor team performance.
- Review work completed by team members.
- Train and guide junior finance personnel.
- Establish effective accounting processes and internal controls.
- Identify process gaps and implement improvements.
Internal Controls & Risk Management
- Establish and maintain appropriate financial controls.
- Identify accounting discrepancies and financial risks.
- Prevent unauthorized or duplicate payments.
- Ensure proper approval procedures are followed.
- Conduct regular account reconciliations.
- Maintain proper documentation for financial transactions.
- Report major financial irregularities or risks to Management.
Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of Accounting & Finance.
- Strong knowledge of GST, TDS and applicable taxation.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Excel.
- Experience with Tally/ERP/accounting software.
- Strong knowledge of MIS and financial reporting.

Educational Qualification
- B.Com / M.Com / CA Inter / MBA Finance or equivalent qualification.
- Professional accounting or taxation certifications will be an advantage.
Experience Required
- 8–12+ years of relevant experience in Accounts & Finance.
- Experience in Interior Design, Architecture, Construction, Real Estate, Furniture, Project-based or similar industries is preferred.
- Previous experience independently handling or leading an Accounts & Finance function.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should be a mature, commercially sound and proactive finance professional capable of taking complete ownership of the Accounts & Finance function.
The candidate should go beyond routine bookkeeping and transaction processing, understand the organization's financial position, anticipate financial requirements, identify risks and provide practical recommendations to Management regarding cash flow, collections, payments, fund management and cost control.
