About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled SCADA / PLC Controls Engineer to design, program, and commission control systems that ensure reliable and efficient plant operations. This is a hands-on role involving PLC programming, SCADA development, field integration, and commissioning across industrial and wastewater environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop PLC logic using ladder logic, function block, and structured text
- Program and optimize control systems for pumps, blowers, clarifiers, disinfection, and sludge handling processes
- Design and configure HMI/SCADA systems (Wonderware, FactoryTalk, Ignition, or similar)
- Implement alarm management and operator interface screens
- Integrate field instrumentation: flow meters, level sensors, DO/pH analyzers, pressure transmitters
- Configure industrial communication networks (Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, Profibus, fiber, wireless telemetry)
- Support FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), SAT (Site Acceptance Test), and commissioning activities
- Conduct site visits and support operator training
- Prepare technical documentation: control narratives, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, O&M manuals
- Ensure compliance with ISA standards, NEC codes, and local environmental regulations
- Troubleshoot control systems and support maintenance teams
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, Controls, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of experience in PLC programming
- Hands-on experience with PLCs: Allen-Bradley (RSLogix 500/5000), Siemens S7, or Modicon
- Experience with SCADA/HMI platforms: Wonderware, FactoryTalk View, Ignition, Cimplicity, or VTScada
- Understanding of wastewater treatment processes (primary, secondary, tertiary, sludge handling)
- Ability to read electrical schematics, P&IDs, and instrumentation diagrams
- Willingness to travel to plant sites (approximately 25–50%)
- Comfortable working in industrial environments
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in wastewater or industrial SCADA projects
- Knowledge of OT/ICS cybersecurity (ISA/IEC 62443 standards)
- Familiarity with regulatory reporting and data logging systems
- Experience with SCADA data archiving and reporting
