Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and compassionate Master of Social Work (MSW) professional to support the emotional, social, and welfare needs of senior citizens. The ideal candidate will have experience in social work, elder care, counseling, community services, or a similar field.
The MSW professional will work closely with residents, families, caregivers, nurses, and management to ensure residents receive appropriate social and emotional support.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess the social, emotional, and family needs of residents.
- Develop and maintain individual social care plans for residents.
- Provide emotional support, counseling, and companionship to senior citizens.
- Build positive and respectful relationships with residents and their families.
- Conduct regular interactions with residents to understand their concerns and needs.
- Coordinate with nurses, caregivers, supervisors, and management regarding resident welfare.
- Support residents in adjusting to the elder care environment.
- Identify residents who may require additional emotional, social, or professional support.
- Communicate with family members regarding residents' social and welfare-related concerns.
- Maintain accurate resident case records, assessments, reports, and documentation.
- Organize recreational, social, cultural, and engagement activities for residents.
- Encourage residents to participate in suitable group activities and community programs.
- Support conflict resolution between residents, staff, and families when required.
- Assist residents with accessing appropriate social welfare schemes and community resources.
- Coordinate with external social service organizations, NGOs, hospitals, and other support agencies when necessary.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident and family information.
- Prepare regular reports regarding resident welfare, activities, and social work interventions.
- Participate in staff meetings and contribute suggestions for improving resident care.
- Handle sensitive situations with empathy, patience, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Perform other social welfare and resident-support duties assigned by management.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) is mandatory.
- Minimum 2–4 years of relevant experience in social work, elder care, healthcare, hospital, NGO, counseling, or community welfare.
- Only experienced candidates will be considered.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent Tamil and English communication skills.
- Compassionate and patient approach toward senior citizens.
- Strong counseling and active listening abilities.
- Good documentation and report-writing skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive personal and family matters professionally.
- Strong coordination and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as with a multidisciplinary team.
- Professional, responsible, empathetic, and service-oriented attitude.
Preferred Skills
- Previous experience working with senior citizens or elderly care organizations.
- Experience in hospital or healthcare social work.
- Knowledge of counseling and psychosocial support.
- Experience conducting resident activities and community programs.
- Knowledge of government welfare schemes and social support services.
- Experience coordinating with families, NGOs, hospitals, and community organizations.
- Basic computer knowledge for documentation and reporting.
