TEXTAX US ACCOUNTANCY INDIA PVT LTD
Power BI Associate
About Us
Textax US Accountancy India Pvt Ltd is an India-based firm providing accounting and tax services to clients across the United States. A core part of our service is delivering Management Information System (MIS) reports through automated Power BI dashboards. These dashboards connect directly to our clients' accounting systems and refresh on a scheduled basis, giving clients an always-current view of their financial position.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Power BI Associate who combines strong, hands-on Power BI development skills with a solid understanding of financial statements and accounting data. In this role, you will build, automate, and maintain the financial dashboards we deliver to our US clients — turning raw accounting data into clear, accurate, and insightful reports.
The ideal candidate understands not just how to build a dashboard, but what the numbers mean and how they flow from source transactions into financial statements. This is a hybrid role where technical Power BI expertise and financial reporting knowledge are equally important.
Key Responsibilities
Dashboard Development
- Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards that deliver MIS and financial reports to US clients.
- Build robust data models, relationships, and DAX measures to support accurate financial reporting.
- Use Power Query (M) to clean, transform, and shape data sourced from client accounting systems.
Data Integration & Automation
- Connect dashboards to clients' accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks Online) via connectors, APIs, or databases.
- Configure and manage scheduled/automatic data refresh using Power BI Service, data gateways, and dataflows.
- Monitor refresh schedules, troubleshoot failures, and ensure dashboards stay current without manual intervention.
Financial Reporting
- Translate financial statements — Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow — into clear, well-structured visual dashboards.
- Understand and accurately reflect how figures flow from transactions to the general ledger, trial balance, and financial statements.
- Build and present meaningful financial KPIs, ratios, variance analysis, and trends relevant to each client.
- Validate dashboard outputs against source accounting data to ensure accuracy and reconciliation.
Collaboration & Quality
- Work with the accounting/MIS team to understand each client's specific reporting requirements.
- Implement Row-Level Security (RLS) and follow strict data confidentiality practices when handling client financial data.
- Document data models, report logic, and refresh processes for maintainability.
- Continuously improve dashboard design, performance, and usability.
Required Skills & Experience
Power BI / Technical (Must-Have)
- Hands-on experience building dashboards in Power BI Desktop and publishing to Power BI Service.
- Strong DAX skills, including calculated measures and time-intelligence functions.
- Proficiency in Power Query / M for data transformation.
- Sound data-modeling skills (star schema, relationships, fact/dimension design).
- Experience setting up automated/scheduled refresh, data gateways, and dataflows.
- Familiarity with connecting Power BI to accounting systems, databases, or APIs.
- Working knowledge of Row-Level Security (RLS).
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Financial / Accounting (Must-Have)
- Solid understanding of financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) and how they interconnect.
- Understanding of accounting fundamentals — double-entry, general ledger, trial balance — and how transactions roll up into reports.
- Ability to interpret financial data and identify the metrics most meaningful for MIS reporting.
- Comfort reconciling and validating financial figures against source data.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field (B.Com / M.Com / MBA-Finance). or a Technical Degree like B Tech.
- [2-3] years of hands-on experience building financial/MIS dashboards in Power BI.
- Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300) certification is a strong plus.
Good to Have (Preferred)
- Experience working with US-based clients and US accounting software (QuickBooks Online, Xero, etc.).
