Job Summary:
The Head – Land Acquisition on will lead the end-to-end land identification on, acquisition, and regulatory compliance strategy for renewable energy projects (Solar, Wind, Hybrid, BESS).
Key Responsibilities:
1. Land Identification & Strategy
- Develop and execute land acquisition strategy for solar, wind, and hybrid projects across multiple states
- Identify suitable land parcels based on resource potential (irradiation/wind), evacuation feasibility, and regulatory conditions
- Build a strong pipeline of land banks for future projects
2. Land Acquisition & Documentation
- Lead negotiations with landowners, aggregators, and government bodies
- Finalize land purchase / lease agreements ensuring clear titles and minimal risk
- Ensure due diligence including title verification, legal scrutiny, and land use compliance
3. Regulatory & Statutory Compliance
- Manage land conversion processes (agricultural to non-agricultural, if applicable)
- Obtain necessary approvals such as ROW (Right of Way), forest clearance, and local authority permits
- Liaise with state revenue departments and regulatory authorities
4. Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain relationships with local communities, government officials, and key stakeholders
- Handle sensitive negotiations and conflict resolution at ground level
- Ensure smooth coordination with internal teams (Legal, Projects, Engineering, EHS)
5. Risk Management
- Identify and mitigate risks related to land disputes, encroachments, and legal issues
- Develop contingency plans for land-related project delays
6. Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor regional land acquisition teams and external consultants
- Set KPIs, monitor performance, and drive execution excellence
7. Cost & Timeline Management
- Optimize land acquisition cost while maintaining compliance and quality
- Ensure timely handover of land aligned with project schedules
Key RequirementsEducation
- Bachelor’s degree in Law / Engineering / Rural Management / Business Administration
- Master’s degree preferred
Experience
- 15–20+ years of experience in land acquisition
- Minimum 8–10 years in renewable energy (Solar/Wind projects preferred)
- Strong experience across multiple Indian states
