Job Description: Social Studies Teacher
A Social Studies Teacher (SST) educates students on history, geography, civics, economics, and culture to foster critical thinking. Responsibilities include developing daily lesson plans, assessing student progress, integrating current events into the curriculum, and creating an inclusive, engaging classroom environment.
Core Responsibilities
- Curriculum Delivery: Instruct students on topics ranging from world history and geography to government and civic practices according to national or state standards.
- Lesson Planning: Gather learning materials and design comprehensive lesson plans tailored to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Student Assessment: Evaluate students' understanding and progress through assignments, projects, quizzes, and examinations.
- Critical Thinking: Facilitate healthy debates and discussions that help students analyze societal structures and current events.
- Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and safe classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Stakeholder Communication: Attend staff meetings and parent-teacher conferences to discuss student growth and development.
