Key Roles and Responsibilities of a QS Engineer1. Cost Estimation & Budgeting
- Prepare preliminary cost estimates and detailed project budgets.
- Conduct quantity take-offs from drawings and BOQs (Bill of Quantities).
- Prepare cost plans for civil, structural, architectural, MEP, and finishing works.
- Assist management in project feasibility and cost optimization.
2. Quantity Surveying & BOQ Preparation
- Measure quantities from approved drawings.
- Prepare detailed BOQs for tendering and procurement.
- Verify quantities executed at site.
- Maintain quantity reconciliation statements.
3. Tendering & Procurement Support
- Prepare tender documents and bid packages.
- Float RFQs to contractors and vendors.
- Conduct techno-commercial evaluations.
- Negotiate rates and finalize work orders and contracts.
4. Contract Administration
- Draft and administer contracts, work orders, and purchase orders.
- Monitor contractual obligations and variations.
- Manage change orders, extra items, and claims.
- Ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
5. Billing & Payment Certification
- Verify contractors' running account (RA) bills and final bills.
- Certify quantities executed at site.
- Process vendor and contractor payments.
- Reconcile advances, recoveries, and retention amounts.
6. Cost Control & Commercial Management
- Monitor actual expenditure against approved budgets.
- Prepare cost variance analyses and management reports.
- Identify cost overruns and suggest corrective measures.
- Track committed versus incurred costs.
7. Project Monitoring & Reporting
- Prepare monthly cost reports and cash flow statements.
- Monitor project progress against financial targets.
- Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, consultants, and finance teams.
- Present commercial status reports to senior management.
8. Value Engineering
- Analyze alternative materials and construction methodologies.
- Recommend cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
- Support procurement and design teams in cost optimization initiatives.
Pay: ₹12,210.87 - ₹47,961.21 per month
