Job Title: Lead Furniture Designer
Location: Bangalore
About the Role
We are looking for a creative and experienced Lead Furniture Designer to lead the design and development of innovative, functional, and aesthetically appealing furniture products. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of furniture design, materials, manufacturing processes, ergonomics, and market trends. This role requires close collaboration with Product, Category, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing teams to develop high-quality products that align with business objectives and customer needs.
Responsibilities and Ownership:
- Lead the end-to-end furniture design process from concept development to production.
- Design innovative furniture products across categories such as sofas, beds, dining sets, wardrobes, tables, chairs, and storage solutions.
- Develop sketches, 2D drawings, 3D models, technical drawings, and product specifications.
- Conduct market research to identify customer preferences, design trends, and competitor offerings.
- Collaborate with Category, Product, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to ensure design feasibility and cost optimization.
- Select appropriate materials, finishes, fabrics, hardware, and accessories based on functionality, quality, and cost.
- Work closely with vendors and manufacturing partners to ensure designs are production-ready.
- Develop prototypes and oversee product testing to ensure quality, durability, ergonomics, and safety standards.
- Optimize product designs for manufacturing efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure products meet brand guidelines, quality standards, and customer expectations.
- Mentor and guide junior designers while fostering creativity and innovation within the design team.
- Maintain complete design documentation, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and product specifications.
- Drive continuous improvement in product design and development processes.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of furniture design principles, ergonomics, materials, and manufacturing techniques.
- Expertise in solid wood, engineered wood, metal, upholstery, foam, fabrics, veneers, laminates, and hardware.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Rhino, SketchUp, or Fusion 360.
- Experience with 3D visualization and rendering tools such as KeyShot, V-Ray, or 3ds Max.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including woodworking, upholstery, metal fabrication, and finishing.
- Excellent creativity, visualization, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple design projects in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Furniture Design, Industrial Design, Product Design, Interior Design, or a related field.
- 4–8 years of experience in furniture design and product development.
- Experience in furniture manufacturing, retail, e-commerce, or consumer products is preferred.
- Experience leading design teams and launching commercial furniture collections is an added advantage.
Pay: ₹600,000.00 - ₹1,200,000.00 per year
