Senior Accountant / Tax Preparer Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our growing CPA firm. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in U.S. tax preparation, bookkeeping, payroll processing, and client communication. This position offers a dynamic work environment with flexible scheduling during the off-season and competitive benefits.
Key ResponsibilitiesTax Preparation & Compliance
- Prepare and compile U.S. federal and state tax returns for:
- Individuals (Form 1040)
- Corporations (Form 1120)
- S Corporations (Form 1120-S)
- Trusts and Estates (Form 1041)
- Review financial records and supporting documentation for tax return preparation.
- Ensure compliance with current tax laws and regulations.
- Assist with tax planning and respond to client inquiries regarding tax matters.
Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Maintain accurate books and records for multiple clients.
- Record and reconcile daily transactions using QuickBooks.
- Prepare monthly and year-end financial statements.
- Perform bank, credit card, and account reconciliations.
- Assist clients with accounting and bookkeeping questions.
Payroll Processing
- Process weekly payroll for multiple clients.
- Prepare and file payroll tax reports and related forms.
- Ensure timely and accurate payroll compliance.
Client Service
- Communicate professionally with clients regarding tax, payroll, and accounting matters.
- Request, organize, and review client documentation.
- Provide exceptional client service and maintain strong client relationships.
QualificationsRequired
- Minimum 5 years of experience in public accounting, tax preparation, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. tax return preparation for Individuals, Corporations, S Corporations, and Trusts.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks (Desktop and/or Online).
- Experience processing payroll and payroll tax filings.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently.
Preferred
- CPA designation or CPA candidate.
- Experience with tax preparation software.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Work Schedule Busy Season (February 15 – April 15)
- Candidate must be willing to work 7 days per week during tax season as needed to meet client deadlines.
