JOB DESCRIPTION – O&M HEAD (Water & Wastewater Treatment Operations)

Location: Head Office / Project Sites
Working Hours: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Available for emergency operational support)
Job Purpose
The O&M Head is responsible for the overall management of Operations & Maintenance activities for all Water and Wastewater Treatment projects executed by Gram Envo Solution Private Limited. The role involves ensuring efficient plant operations, preventive maintenance, manpower management, client satisfaction, statutory compliance, operational profitability, and continuous process improvement across all project sites.
Key Roles & Responsibilities1. Plant Operations
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of STP, ETP, WTP, RO Plants, UF Systems, Softeners, Pumping Stations, and associated utilities.
- Ensure uninterrupted plant operation with maximum efficiency and minimum downtime.
- Monitor plant performance and process parameters to meet client and statutory requirements.
- Ensure treated water quality consistently complies with applicable standards.
2. Maintenance Management
- Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance schedules.
- Monitor maintenance of pumps, blowers, motors, agitators, dosing systems, compressors, pipelines, valves, electrical panels, and instrumentation.
- Ensure timely rectification of breakdowns and minimize equipment downtime.
- Plan annual maintenance activities and equipment overhauls.
3. Process & Technical Management
- Analyze plant performance reports and recommend process improvements.
- Optimize chemical consumption, energy usage, and operational efficiency.
- Review laboratory reports and water quality analysis.
- Provide technical guidance to engineers and operators for troubleshooting.
4. Team & Manpower Management
- Lead and supervise O&M Coordinators, Site Engineers, Supervisors, Operators, and Technicians.
- Plan manpower deployment and shift schedules across all projects.
- Conduct technical training, toolbox talks, and performance evaluations.
- Ensure discipline, attendance, productivity, and adherence to SOPs.
5. Client Relationship Management
- Maintain strong relationships with clients and represent the company in technical and review meetings.
- Ensure timely closure of client complaints and escalations.
- Achieve contractual Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and operational KPIs.
- Support project mobilization, handover, and commissioning activities.
6. Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with Pollution Control Board regulations, environmental norms, and client-specific requirements.
- Promote safe working practices, PPE usage, and permit-to-work systems.
- Maintain statutory records, calibration certificates, maintenance logs, and operational documentation.
- Participate in internal and external audits.
7. Commercial & Resource Management
- Monitor project profitability and operational expenses.
- Optimize the use of chemicals, consumables, spares, and utilities.
- Coordinate with Purchase for procurement of materials and service contracts.
- Review vendor performance and recommend improvements.
8. Coordination & Reporting
- Coordinate with HR for recruitment, training, attendance, and manpower planning.
- Coordinate with Stores and Purchase for inventory and spare availability.
- Submit Daily, Weekly, and Monthly MIS reports covering:
- Plant Performance
- Equipment Status
- Breakdown Reports
- Preventive Maintenance
- Water Quality
- Chemical Consumption
- Energy Consumption
- Client Complaints
- Manpower Deployment
- Site Audit Findings
Required Technical Knowledge
- STP, ETP, WTP, RO, UF, Softener Systems
- Pumps, Blowers, Motors, Electrical Panels, Instrumentation
- Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance
- Water Quality Standards
- Chemical Dosing & Process Optimization
- PLC/SCADA (Basic Knowledge Preferred)

Qualification
- BE/B.Tech or Diploma in Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering.
Experience
- 8–15 years of experience in Water & Wastewater Treatment Operations & Maintenance, with at least 3–5 years in a managerial role.
