Job Summary
Fresh2Day is looking for a proactive and result-oriented Buyer to manage procurement activities for the Tirupati market. The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing quality products, maintaining supplier relationships, ensuring product availability, negotiating the best commercial terms, and supporting sales and profitability.
Key ResponsibilitiesProcurement & Purchasing
- Procure products for assigned categories at the best quality, price, and delivery schedule.
- Raise Purchase Orders (POs) and ensure timely follow-up with suppliers.
- Ensure continuous product availability without stock-outs.
- Coordinate with the warehouse and stores for smooth stock replenishment.
Vendor Management
- Identify and develop local and regional suppliers.
- Build strong relationships with vendors and negotiate competitive prices, payment terms, and promotional support.
- Monitor supplier performance in terms of quality, pricing, and on-time delivery.
- Resolve supplier-related issues promptly.
Inventory Management
- Monitor inventory levels and maintain optimum stock.
- Minimize overstock, slow-moving, and non-moving inventory.
- Plan purchases based on sales trends, seasonal demand, and promotional activities.
- Work closely with Operations to improve inventory turnover.
Market & Category Management
- Conduct regular market visits to monitor competitor pricing, product range, and market trends.
- Identify new products and local sourcing opportunities.
- Recommend new product introductions and discontinue poor-performing products.
Cost & Profitability
- Achieve category-wise margin and profitability targets.
- Analyze buying patterns, purchase costs, and sales reports.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and better commercial terms.
Coordination
- Work closely with Store Operations, Warehouse, Finance, and Logistics teams.
- Ensure timely inward of goods and proper documentation.
- Support promotional planning and seasonal buying activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field.
Experience
- 5–10 years of experience in Buying, Procurement, or Category Management.
- Experience in Supermarket, FMCG, Grocery, or Retail industry is preferred.
- Knowledge of the Tirupati local market and suppliers is an added advantage.
