The Role
We're hiring a Principal Engineer to lead our backend and AI/ML teams and own the technical foundation of our trading products. This is our most senior engineering role — a hands-on technical authority who sets direction, writes and reviews critical code, mentors developers, and owns the standards that keep a real-money trading platform reliable. When there's a hard problem — a performance bottleneck, a tricky bug, a risky deployment, or a misbehaving model — you're the person who gets to the bottom of it.
What You'll Do
- Own end-to-end architecture and technical quality across all products, including new builds.
- Write, review, and approve production code (including AI-generated code) and validate trading logic for correctness.
- Design and operate asynchronous/background processing systems (Celery, task queues, schedulers) that power execution, signals, and data pipelines.
- Define and enforce deployment, testing, and code-review standards.
- Lead the AI/ML team — model development, training, deployment, monitoring, and serving in production.
- Oversee vector databases and retrieval systems powering AI features such as the StrykeX AI Copilot.
- Ensure AI/ML systems are reliable, explainable where required, and aligned with SEBI regulatory constraints.
- Lead, mentor, and manage backend and AI/ML developers; help hire and raise the bar across the team.
What You'll Need
Backend & Systems
- Strong hands-on Python backend development.
- Deep experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis (time-series stores like QuestDB a plus).
- Hands-on Celery and asynchronous/background task processing at scale.
- Solid grasp of system architecture, APIs, and the full development-to-deployment lifecycle.
- Track record of shipping reliable, high-availability systems — ideally in fintech or another high-stakes domain.
AI / ML
- Hands-on with PyTorch and/or TensorFlow.
- Strong command of NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn.
- Experience deploying and serving models in production (FastAPI, ONNX, containerized inference).
- Practical LLM experience — prompt design, RAG pipelines, embeddings, and orchestration (LangChain or similar).
- Experience with vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector, Qdrant, or similar).
- Understanding of the full MLOps lifecycle.
Leadership
- Proven experience leading or mentoring engineering and/or AI/ML teams.
Preferred
- Trading systems, algorithmic trading, or low-latency/high-throughput platforms.
- ML applied to financial/time-series data (forecasting, signal generation, anomaly detection).
- AWS infrastructure (EC2, RDS, load balancers, VPCs) and websocket-based services.
- MLOps tooling (MLflow, Weights & Biases); GPU-based training.
- Familiarity with SEBI/regulatory considerations in fintech.
