OB DESCRIPTION – STAFF NURSE

Registration: Valid State Nursing Council Registration
Job Purpose:
To provide safe, compassionate and quality nursing care to patients, assist doctors in patient management, maintain accurate clinical records, and ensure compliance with hospital policies and NABH standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing care to patients as per their individual needs and treatment plan.
- Monitor and record vital signs, patient condition and clinical observations.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the doctor.
- Assist doctors during procedures, examinations and emergency situations.
- Maintain proper nursing notes, patient records and documentation.
- Ensure proper medication handling and follow the 5 Rights of Medication Administration.
- Monitor IV fluids, injections, dressings and other nursing procedures.
- Maintain infection-control practices, hand hygiene and PPE requirements.
- Ensure proper patient identification and safety procedures.
- Assist in admission, transfer and discharge procedures.
- Communicate patient condition and important updates during shift handover.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper arrangement of the nursing station and patient-care areas.
- Check availability of medicines, consumables and emergency equipment.
- Report any abnormal patient condition or emergency immediately to the doctor/in-charge.
- Follow hospital SOPs, nursing protocols, NABH standards and safety policies.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and professional ethics.
- Participate in training programs, audits and quality-improvement activities.
- Perform other nursing duties assigned by the Nursing In-charge / Management.
