Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Recorder and Saxophone Instructor to provide high-quality music instruction to students of varying ages and skill levels. The instructor will teach recorder and saxophone technique, music theory, performance skills, and ensemble participation while creating an engaging and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver individual and/or group lessons in recorder and saxophone.
- Teach proper posture, breathing, embouchure, fingering, tone production, articulation, and technique.
- Develop students' music-reading, rhythm, ear-training, and performance skills.
- Select appropriate repertoire based on students' age, ability, and musical interests.
- Prepare students for recitals, examinations, concerts, competitions, and other performances.
- Encourage students to participate in ensembles and group performances.
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to students and parents/guardians.
- Maintain accurate lesson records and attendance.
- Support school/organization concerts, workshops, rehearsals, and other music activities.
- Maintain instruments and promote proper care and handling of musical equipment.
- Collaborate with other music teachers and staff to support students' overall musical development.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field preferred.
- Strong proficiency in playing and teaching recorder and saxophone.
- Previous teaching experience with children, teenagers, and/or adult learners.
- Good knowledge of music theory and notation.
- Strong communication and classroom-management skills.
- Patience, creativity, reliability, and enthusiasm for music education.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to different learning styles and abilities.
Preferred Skills
- Experience preparing students for graded music examinations.
- Experience conducting or coaching student ensembles.
- Performance experience on recorder and/or saxophone.
- Ability to teach beginners as well as intermediate/advanced students.
Compensation
Salary/Fees: Competitive and commensurate with qualifications, teaching experience, and performance background, on a per-day basis.
