Role Overview
We are looking for a hands-on Wiring Harness Production Supervisor who has real shop-floor experience in wiring harness manufacturing.
This is not a design-only or process engineering role.
The ideal candidate should have worked directly in a wiring harness manufacturing unit and be capable of independently managing the complete manufacturing process. From understanding customer drawings to production planning, crimping, assembly, testing, quality inspection, and dispatch.
You will be responsible for establishing production processes, training operators, ensuring quality, and serving as the primary technical expert within our manufacturing unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand customer wiring harness drawings, BOMs, and specifications.
- Plan manufacturing activities based on production requirements.
- Select appropriate wires, connectors, terminals, ferrules, sleeves, heat shrink tubes, cable ties, labels, and other components.
- Operate and supervise wire cutting, stripping, crimping, terminal insertion, heat shrinking, taping, and harness assembly.
- Set up and maintain semi-automatic wire processing machines.
- Verify crimp quality using pull-force testing and crimp inspection.
- Perform continuity, insulation, and harness testing using appropriate test equipment.
- Develop work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Ensure production quality, traceability, and documentation.
- Train and supervise production operators.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate with suppliers for tooling, connectors, wires, and consumables.
- Support customer visits, sample development, and new product introductions.
- Maintain safe and organized shop-floor operations.
Mandatory Experience
Applicants should have practical experience in most of the following:
- Wiring harness manufacturing
- Wire cutting & stripping machines
- Crimping machines
- Applicator setup and crimp adjustments
- Terminal crimp inspection
- Pull-force testing
- Continuity testing
- Harness assembly
- Connector insertion
- Heat shrink application
- Cable dressing, taping, and sleeving
- Reading wiring diagrams and manufacturing drawings
- BOM interpretation
- Production planning
- Quality inspection
Candidates with only design, CAD, or manufacturing process experience and no hands-on wiring harness production experience are unlikely to be suitable.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related field.
- 3-5 years of hands-on wiring harness manufacturing experience.
- Experience supervising production teams is preferred.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who can confidently answer questions like:
- Which terminal should be used for this connector?
- Which crimp applicator is required?
- What pull-force should this crimp achieve?
- Which wire gauge is appropriate?
- How should this harness be routed and assembled?
- How do we inspect and test this harness before shipment?
If you're the person others rely on to solve shop-floor wiring harness problems, we'd like to hear from you.
