1. JOB PURPOSE
The Canteen Manager will be responsible for the overall management and smooth functioning of the hospital canteen. The candidate will ensure hygienic, nutritious, safe, cost-effective and timely food services for hospital staff, patients' attendants and other authorized persons while maintaining hospital standards and applicable food safety regulations.
2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESA. Canteen Operations
- Manage day-to-day operations of the hospital canteen.
- Ensure timely preparation and serving of food and beverages.
- Plan daily menus and coordinate food preparation.
- Ensure adequate availability of food items during operating hours.
- Maintain uninterrupted canteen services as per hospital requirements.
B. Food Quality & Hygiene
- Ensure high standards of food quality, hygiene and sanitation.
- Monitor food preparation, storage and serving practices.
- Ensure proper temperature control and safe storage of perishable food.
- Ensure cleanliness of kitchen, dining area, utensils, equipment and storage areas.
- Monitor personal hygiene and grooming standards of all canteen staff.
- Ensure compliance with applicable FSSAI and food safety requirements.
C. Staff Management
- Supervise, train and allocate duties to canteen staff.
- Prepare duty rosters and ensure adequate staffing.
- Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, discipline and performance.
- Conduct regular training on hygiene, food safety and workplace discipline.
- Address staff-related issues and report serious matters to hospital administration.
D. Inventory & Procurement
- Monitor daily consumption and stock levels.
- Maintain proper inventory of groceries, vegetables, dairy products, beverages and other supplies.
- Prepare purchase requirements and coordinate with approved vendors.
- Check quality and quantity of materials received.
- Minimize wastage, pilferage and unnecessary consumption.
- Maintain proper stock and purchase records.
E. Cost Control
- Monitor food cost and operational expenses.
- Ensure economical utilization of food materials.
- Control food wastage and maintain portion standards.
- Maintain records of daily sales, expenses and consumption.
- Submit regular reports to hospital management.
F. Patient & Staff Service
- Ensure courteous and professional service to staff and attendants.
- Handle complaints and feedback regarding food quality and service.
- Take corrective action promptly where required.
- Ensure special dietary requirements are coordinated with the concerned hospital/nursing/dietary team wherever applicable.
- Maintain a clean, peaceful and disciplined canteen environment.
G. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure proper pest control, waste disposal and sanitation practices.
- Ensure safe operation of kitchen equipment.
- Monitor fire and electrical safety within the canteen area.
- Ensure all food handlers follow prescribed hygiene practices.
- Maintain required licenses, certificates, inspection records and documentation related to food services.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
