Position Overview
As a Freight Broker, you will be responsible for developing and managing relationships with shippers, identifying transportation opportunities, negotiating rates, and coordinating the movement of freight. You will serve as the primary point of contact for your customers while working closely with operations teams to ensure successful shipment execution.
This role is ideal for individuals with strong sales, negotiation, and relationship-management skills who are looking to build a rewarding career in the logistics and transportation industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing shipper customers.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through cold calling, prospecting, networking, and referrals.
- Manage customer freight needs and provide transportation solutions.
- Negotiate freight rates and maximize profitability on every shipment.
- Build and grow a profitable book of business.
- Prepare and present pricing proposals and transportation solutions.
- Coordinate with operations and carrier teams to ensure successful load execution.
- Provide exceptional customer service and proactively resolve issues.
- Monitor market trends, lane pricing, and transportation capacity.
- Meet and exceed revenue, margin, and activity targets.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Strong sales, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Experience
- 1+ years of experience in Freight Brokerage, Logistics Sales, Transportation Sales, or Supply Chain Operations.
- Experience working with US-based logistics or transportation companies.
- Understanding of FTL, LTL, Reefer, Flatbed, and Dry Van transportation.
- Familiarity with transportation management systems and freight market dynamics.
