We are looking for a skilled and design-driven professional who brings together the best of both worlds — a strong architectural foundation and a refined sensibility for light. This is a senior creative role for someone who thinks spatially, designs intentionally, and understands how lighting is not just functional but transformative to any built environment.
About the Role
This is not a conventional architecture role, nor a purely technical lighting position. We are looking for someone who sits at the intersection of both — a professional who can lead spatial design while simultaneously shaping the lighting narrative of a project. You will own projects from concept through execution, working closely with interior designers, clients, and contractors to deliver spaces that are as beautifully lit as they are thoughtfully designed.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead architectural design and space planning across residential, commercial, and hospitality projects
- Develop and own the lighting design concept for each project — from ambient strategy to fixture-level specification
- Prepare detailed architectural drawings, sections, elevations, and lighting layout plans using AutoCAD
- Create compelling 3D visualizations and client presentations using SketchUp and Photoshop
- Define lighting moods, zoning strategies, and layered lighting schemes in line with the overall design intent
- Specify and source lighting fixtures, working within project budgets and aesthetic briefs
- Coordinate with MEP consultants, electrical contractors, and vendors to ensure accurate on-site execution of lighting design
- Conduct site visits to review progress, assess lighting installations, and ensure quality and design compliance
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation including drawings, schedules, fixture libraries, and correspondence
- Stay ahead of architectural and lighting design trends, materials, and emerging technologies
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture (B.Arch) — mandatory
- Additional qualification or certification in Lighting Design is an advantage
- Minimum 3–6 years of professional experience in architecture, with demonstrable involvement in lighting design or coordination
- Portfolio showcasing architectural projects with a strong lighting design component is required
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD — must-have
- Strong working knowledge of SketchUp for 3D modeling and design visualization
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop for mood boards, rendered presentations, and design communication
- Competency in Microsoft Word for documentation, project reports, and client correspondence
- Familiarity with lighting calculation tools or dialux is an added advantage
- Ability to produce detailed hand sketches and architectural drawings
Soft Skills
- Deep passion for both architecture and the art and science of lighting
- Exceptional visual and spatial sensibility
- Strong client-facing communication and presentation skills
- Ability to lead projects independently and manage multiple deliverables simultaneously
