Romford Holidays is a UK-founded travel brand now growing its India operations, designing and selling European and international tour packages directly to travellers. We are transitioning from a founder-led company to a structured, system-driven organisation, and we are looking for a General Manager to lead that transformation.
About the Role
The General Manager is the head of our operations and the senior-most leader below the Managing Director. You will own overall business performance, build the teams and systems that drive growth, and use your travel-industry expertise to guide every department from sales and operations to visa, accounts, and media.
Key Responsibilities
Business Leadership
- Own overall business performance, including revenue, profitability, and growth targets.
- Translate the Managing Director's vision into clear quarterly and annual plans.
- Set, monitor, and review performance targets across all departments.
- Identify new revenue opportunities, market trends, and areas for improvement.
- Prepare and present regular performance reports to the Managing Director.
Team & Performance Management
- Lead, motivate, and hold accountable the Operations Manager, Holiday Consultants, Telecallers, Visa Consultants, Accountant, and Media staff.
- Run structured weekly and monthly review meetings to track targets and resolve bottlenecks.
- Build a culture of professionalism, ownership, and continuous improvement.
- Approve leave, attendance, and lateness; manage discipline; and support hiring and onboarding decisions.
Operations & Travel Expertise
- Guide and mentor the Operations Manager on DMC sourcing, ticketing, group fares, supplier negotiation, and tour packaging.
- Oversee pricing strategy and ensure packages are competitive and profitable.
- Step in on complex operational or supplier issues using industry knowledge.
- Ensure service quality standards are maintained across every booking and tour.
Systems & Knowledge Building
- Build, document, and enforce company-wide SOPs and processes.
- Lead the company's transition from founder-dependent to system-driven.
- Ensure key processes and decisions are documented so company knowledge is retained.
- Drive adoption of tools, CRM, and workflows that improve efficiency.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a management / leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of the travel industry (tour operations, DMCs, ticketing) — strongly preferred.
- Proven track record of leading teams, setting targets, and delivering results.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Strong commercial and analytical thinking.
- Fluency in English and Malayalam
- Graduate or Relevant Experience
