Lab Technician – Food Manufacturing
Job Summary
Responsible for conducting routine laboratory testing and quality checks of raw materials, in-process products, and finished food products to ensure they meet the company’s quality, safety, and specification standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct physical, chemical, and basic microbiological tests on raw materials and finished products.
- Check parameters such as pH, moisture, salt, acidity, colour, texture, and other product-specific specifications.
- Inspect incoming raw materials and packaging materials for quality.
- Collect and maintain samples from production batches.
- Perform in-process quality checks during production and packing.
- Maintain laboratory records, test reports, and batch-wise quality documentation.
- Identify deviations from quality specifications and immediately report them to the Quality/Production Manager.
- Monitor hygiene and sanitation standards in the production and laboratory areas.
- Ensure proper calibration, cleaning, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Maintain proper storage and handling of chemicals, reagents, and laboratory samples.
- Support shelf-life and stability testing of products.
- Assist in investigating quality complaints and product deviations.
- Follow quality procedures.
- Ensure proper housekeeping and safety practices in the laboratory.
- Assist the Quality Assurance team during internal, customer, and regulatory audits.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of food testing and quality control procedures.
- Basic knowledge of laboratory instruments and analytical methods.
- Good observation and documentation skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
- Knowledge of GMP, hygiene, and food safety practices.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to identify and report quality issues promptly.
Qualification
B.Sc./M.Sc. Food Technology, Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related field.
0–2 years of experience in a food processing laboratory or quality control department preferred. Freshers with relevant knowledge may also be considered.
