Job Overview
The Estimation & Billing Executive manages project costing, budget tracking, and post-execution financial verification for both residential and commercial interior projects. This role sits between design, procurement, and execution. You will analyze design drawings to create accurate Bills of Quantities (BOQs), prepare profitable client quotes, and audit final contractor bills to prevent budget overruns.
Key Responsibilities
1. BOQ Preparation & Quantity Take-off
- Analyze 2D AutoCAD layouts, section details, and 3D renders to extract exact material and civil measurements.
- Prepare detailed, comprehensive Bills of Quantities (BOQs) covering civil work, carpentry, MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing), and premium finishes.
- Calculate accurate material wastage factors to prevent under-ordering or project losses.
2. Cost Optimization & Proposal Strategy
- Break down complex design elements into core components: raw materials, hardware, labor, and transport.
- Conduct regular market research to update the internal company rate cards for materials and labor.
- Coordinate with the design team to suggest cost-effective material alternatives (value engineering) if a project exceeds the client's budget.
3. Contractor Billing & Final Verification
- Audit and verify final bills submitted by on-site contractors against actual executed site quantities and approved BOQ rates.
- Reconcile material delivery notes with vendor invoices to identify and resolve billing discrepancies before passing them to the accounts team.
- Conduct site visits when necessary to cross-verify physical progress against contractor billing milestones.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Architecture, or Interior Design.
- Experience: 2–5 years of experience as an Estimator, Quantity Surveyor, or Billing Engineer specifically within the interior design or fit-out industry.
- Technical Tools: Advanced, expert proficiency in MS Excel (formulas, cost modeling, data sorting) and strong skills in reading AutoCAD drawings.
- Material Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of interior materials (plywood grades, laminates, veneers, hardware brands like Hettich/Blum/Hafele, paints, and stones).
- Traits: Exceptional mathematical accuracy, sharp attention to detail, strong vendor negotiation skills, and the ability to work under tight presentation deadlines.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
