Key ResponsibilitiesPre-operative Responsibilities
- Assess patients before surgery and obtain relevant medical history.
- Review laboratory investigations, imaging, and diagnostic reports.
- Prepare patients for surgery in coordination with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nursing staff, and other departments.
- Educate patients and their families regarding surgical procedures, risks, benefits, and postoperative care as directed by the consultant.
- Ensure completion of pre-operative checklists, informed consent, and required documentation.
Intra-operative Responsibilities
- Assist the CTVS surgeon during cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgeries.
- Prepare and maintain sterile instruments, equipment, and surgical field.
- Perform first-assistant duties such as tissue retraction, suctioning, hemostasis, wound closure, and placement of drains as permitted by hospital policy and applicable regulations.
- Assist in harvesting conduits (where appropriately trained and authorized).
- Monitor patient condition and communicate with the surgical team throughout the procedure.
- Ensure compliance with OT protocols, surgical safety checklists, and infection control practices.
Post-operative Responsibilities
- Monitor patients in the ICU, HDU, and wards following surgery.
- Assist in postoperative assessment and management under the supervision of the consultant.
- Perform wound inspection and dressing changes.
- Remove drains, sutures, and temporary pacing wires as authorized and trained.
- Assist in management of chest tubes and postoperative complications.
- Coordinate discharge planning and postoperative follow-up.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Conduct daily patient rounds with the consultant.
- Document patient progress notes and treatment plans accurately.
- Assist in emergency management of CTVS patients.
- Coordinate referrals and multidisciplinary care.
- Ensure continuity of care from admission to discharge.
Documentation & Records
- Maintain complete and accurate patient records.
- Prepare operative assistance notes and clinical documentation.
- Ensure timely entry of medical records into the Hospital Information System (HIS).
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Quality & Patient Safety
- Follow NABH/JCI standards, hospital policies, and departmental SOPs.
- Adhere to infection prevention and biomedical waste management protocols.
- Participate in mortality and morbidity meetings, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Report clinical incidents and adverse events as per hospital policy.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Coordinate OT schedules for CTVS procedures.
- Ensure availability of implants, consumables, and surgical instruments.
- Assist in inventory management related to CTVS procedures.
- Participate in departmental meetings and academic activities.
Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹70,000.00 per month
