Qualification
- ITI (Machinist/Turner/Fitter) or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Certification in CNC/VMC operation will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in a Tool Room or Precision Manufacturing environment.
- Experience in operating CNC/VMC machines for tooling, dies, moulds, jigs, fixtures, and precision components.
Job Summary
The selected candidates will be responsible for operating CNC and VMC machines in the Tool Room, ensuring accurate machining of components as per engineering drawings, maintaining quality standards, and achieving production targets.
Key ResponsibilitiesVMC Operator
- Set up and operate Vertical Machining Centre (VMC) machines.
- Load, verify, and execute CNC programs.
- Perform tool setting, tool offset, and work offset adjustments.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, and tolerances.
- Select appropriate cutting tools and fixtures.
- Monitor machining operations and make necessary corrections.
- Inspect machined components using precision measuring instruments.
- Maintain machine cleanliness and perform routine maintenance checks.
- Follow safety, quality, and 5S practices.
CNC Operator
- Operate CNC Turning/Machining Centres as per production requirements.
- Load and execute CNC programs.
- Perform tool changes and offset corrections.
- Monitor machining operations to ensure dimensional accuracy.
- Conduct in-process and final inspections using measuring instruments.
- Report machine abnormalities and coordinate with maintenance when required.
- Maintain production records and machine logs.
- Adhere to safety and quality standards.
Required Skills
- Hands-on experience in CNC/VMC machine operation.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and understand GD&T.
- Knowledge of G-code/M-code is preferred.
- Familiarity with precision measuring instruments such as Vernier Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gauges, Dial Indicators, and Bore Gauges.
- Understanding of cutting tools, inserts, and machining parameters.
- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work in rotational shifts and meet production targets.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in Tool Room operations.
- Exposure to machining dies, moulds, jigs, fixtures, and precision components.
- Knowledge of 5S, Kaizen, and Lean Manufacturing practices.
